  • Durable!
This little tool packs quite a punch! After using it morning and evenings, it leaves my very sensitive skin feeling clean and refreshed without leaving it dry and raw. And the first thing that I did was drop it from a very high height when it fell off my bathroom shelf and straight onto the shower floor and didn't break. ... show more

  • Good combination of strong blue LED light and facial cleansing in one device.
* Overall Impression: -This is a good combination of a strong blue LED light and silicone facial cleansing in one device. -I think the blue LED light feature is the best part of it as it performs very well, and is my new favorite blue LED device. It works well because it keeps the light directed close to the skin, isn't too bright to be uncomfortable on the eyes, and it's a good blue-purple tone on the light. It also covers a larger area in blue light for a quick 3 minute session. Other devices take longer and cover smaller areas or are too bright on the eyes to be comfortable to use. -While it does give a very good, very thorough facial cleanse with the silicone bristles that’s reasonably gentle, but not quite as gentle as I prefer personally. It did not in any way outperform less expensive silicone cleansing brushes I've used that are gentler. I found the bristles a little rougher than I prefer and one of the cleansing mode vibrations (the first one, the second one was fine) uncomfortable on my face and sinuses. I've used quite a few different high and lower end silicone brushes, and this one just is not my favorite or one I'd pick again without the blue LED light. It’s a good one, just not one I prefer vs gentler brushes. * Pros-what I liked and what worked well: -Combines two devices in one. A silicone facial cleansing brush and a blue LED light device. -Very well made and excellent quality. -Has a handle that feels really good in the hand, well weighted but still lightweight, easy to handle and hold during cleansing or blue light mode. There's some but not too much vibration in the handle. It's easier to use and hold than a brush with no handle. -USB rechargeable, with a USB charging cable included. -Sealed silicone port on the base to keep moisture out. -Round shape of the brush makes it easier to use and get around areas of the face such as around the nose and under eye area. Not too large or small, it's a good size and more for face vs body. -Very soft silicone. -Silicone bristles dry faster and are more hygienic than fibered bristle brushes, they hold less bacteria and are gentler on the skin than most fibered brushes. -Vibration massage during cleansing. The bristles don't rotate or move. Strong vibration in 2 modes (stronger and lower vibration mode 1, mode 2 lighter but higher vibration) (I prefer mode 2, it's gentler and more comfortable.) -7,000 vibrations per minute. -Waterproof. -Brush won't need replacement brush heads. -Silicone bristles last a long time vs fibered brushes. -You can use the vibration massage on (it turns on the same side as the bristles and is the same button as the cleansing vibration) (Note the blue light turns on on the opposite side and button under the blue light side.) the blue light side for facial massage. But note that you can not use it while the blue light is on. But you can use the vibration on on the blue light side with the blue light off, but not on. -Very strong blue-purple LED light. -3 minute blue light session time for the entire face. With some devices, such as the Soliwave (the smaller one for acne, it's 3 minutes per acne spot). Other devices I’ve used take longer than 3 minutes for the entire face. -The blue LED light (no UV light) is not the royal blue you often see in less expensive devices, but the more blue-purple you see in the high end ones (such as Soliwave). -Larger blue light area than some devices. It's slightly smaller than the palm of your hand vs about a nickel sized area on some devices (such as the Soliwave). It's not overly large like some larger ones that cover a much larger area. They often take a longer session time and aren't as easy or comfortable to use. -It puts the blue light right on the face and skin more directly than many other devices. You may not even see that it's on as it's directed on the skin vs outward. I really appreciated this feature, I think it’s due to the shape of the LED area. You can't use the blue LED during cleansing though, it's not on the same side. -The blue LED also turns on and off (you must press the button on the LED side first to turn it off and on) on facial contact vs just on and off. Some devices with sensors, such as the Soliwave (which I do use and like) can be difficult to get to stay on if your skin is dry, or just difficult to get the sensor to activate and stay on in general. The skin sensor to touching the skin is excellent on this one, and is the best I've ever used in any device for staying on during a session. It may turn off briefly around corners of the face where it's not flat on the face, but it will turn back on immediately. Do note that if you accidentally turn on the on-off button during rinsing or cleansing the water will turn on the blue light. Also note that if you just touch it with your finger vs a larger area of the skin, it won't turn on. It needs to be flat on your face to turn on. You may need to stand in front of a mirror to see it on during use. -Blue light doesn't strobe or flash. However, do note that if you are in front of a mirror during use, it can turn on and off briefly that may seem a little like a strobe. -Very smooth, gentle LED surface area. Some devices can have rough edges or groves in the area around or over the LED surface. This one does not, it glides across the skin smoothly and gently and doesn't pull on the skin or have any rough areas. You may notice some slight warmth during use due to the LED lights. -Instructions included. -Has no unpleasant scent to it. -Comes with included eye protection goggles to use during the blue light sessions. -Comes with a nice clear hard plastic storage and travel case. * Cons-what I didn’t like and what didn’t work well: -There were instructions included, but they could have been better and clearer. The instructions on the carton, listing pictures and PMD site will be helpful to look at and refer to. -The bristles are not the gentlest I've used compared to other less expensive silicone brushes in similar styles. I felt they were a little rough on my face and skin. I've used other brushes with gentler bristles and have gotten a similar cleanse that felt gentler but just as thorough. The bristles could have been gentler than they are and still cleansed very well. I didn't feel it outperformed for cleansing any other silicone brush I've used. It did a good job, but with the PMD reputation, I did expect more vs inexpensive brushes. It did not outperform the better inexpensive silicone brushes I’ve used. -The lower (first) cleansing level was a little painful to me on my face and sinus area. I don't usually have this issue with similar brushes, but on this one I had to use the second cleansing level with a higher vibration frequency that didn't cause this issue. -You can not use the blue light mode with vibration as well. It is not designed to do this. It will however vibrate for a few seconds when you touch the blue light side to your face. It's not meant to keep vibrating. This is annoying and I wish they had not included this feature. I don’t like that it randomly vibrates when it touches my face. -You can not adjust the blue light therapy lower or higher, it's set as it is. -No red light mode, no heat or cooling modes or features. -It only comes with a USB charging cord, no plug in, you must have your own. -It does take a little force to get the charging area into the charging port on the base of the device. * Tips & Thoughts: -There are other similarly styles and vibration feel silicone cleansing brushes both lower priced and higher priced and name branded I've tried. I can't say that this one is my favorite by any means for cleansing. It’s good, but it’s not outstanding. -The bristles are a little rougher than some others I've used. The vibration is also a little more uncomfortable on the first (lower setting) setting. I find it makes my sensitive sinuses on my cheek and under eye area a little uncomfortable vs other brushes with a different style of vibration. The higher (higher, second setting) actually is more comfortable on my skin and sinuses and I think gentler. But it’s very similar in feel to most inexpensive silicone brushes I’ve used. -While this is a good brush overall, I just don't really love it for cleansing. I have some inexpensive silicone brushes that cleanse better, feel better on my skin and sinuses, are gentler and I prefer using. Even some in the under fifty to twenty dollar range I prefer for cleansing and feel I get a gentler, better and more comfortable cleanse. I absolutely would not get it again for the cleansing alone due to it not being as good or comfortable to some less expensive brushes that feel similar in vibration but more comfortable. -However, if you were going to buy a PMD cleansing brush and a separate blue LED light device, you'd probably spend close to the same amount or more. So if you like PMD brushes and want a good blue light device, while it's pricey vs less expensive ones, it's still not a bad value overall. -On blue LED light devices and brushes, I've noted that many I've used tend to be a more royal blue tone and this one and more high end devices and LED masks use the tone that's in this PMD device, it's hard to explain but it is visibly a different blue with a purple undertone vs a royal blue. I've noted that I have not seen this tone as often in the less expensive devices, but mostly in the stronger name brand ones. -To contrast with the smaller Solawave rechargeable acne blue light device (no cleansing), you can only use it on an area about the size of a nickel and you have to hold it there for about three minutes on one area or acne spot. It's fairly pricey at about seventy dollars, so this one using the same three minutes do do a session of your whole face vs one area is worth the price difference. -I've used the LumaGlow blue LED device (no cleansing) which is pricey at about one hundred forty dollars. I do think it is quite a bit stronger than this PMD device in the blue light strength. But it's so overwhelmingly strong in the light strength, it's not comfortable to use and irritated my eyes. It does cover a larger area than the PMD device. But an issue with it, that the PMD solves, is that it's so bright that turning it on and putting it to your face, even that is painful to the eyes. It also projects light out further than the PMD. The PMD outperforms this with the face sensor to turn it off and on when touching your face, and it keeps the light directed mostly on your face and you see less of it visually during use. The PMD a lot more comfortable to use than the LumaGlow. -Some of my favorite inexpensive silicone cleansing brushes are now discontinued or I'd recommend them over this one for cleansing. One I do like that is a gentle spinning vibrating (vs just vibration) silicone bristle brush is the UMICKOO face scrubber. While I would not recommend the fibered bristle brush it comes with, the silicone and sponge brush attachment on that one are some of my favorites. There are several variations in the brand and they seem to use the same brushes. It also has a blue and red LED light ring around it you can turn on during cleansing. However, it's not nearly as strong or the same shade or type of LED light on the PMD. It won’t replace the PMD for blue light. -One thing to keep in mind on silicone vibrating face brushes, is that the ones with handles like the PMD are easier, more comfortable to use and handle. Though some have a lot of vibration in the handle vs the brush, which isn't an issue with the PMD. -Another thing is that the shorter, stubbier the bristles are on a brush, the rougher they tend to be. I like to alternate with the shorter bristles like the PMD with longer more fibery bristles. I think they cleanse differently and my skin benefits from both styles alternated. Bristles like these on the PMD I could not use every day without skin irritation, it's just too much on my sensitive skin. -One thing I would strongly suggest, is to be sure to really rinse both sides of the brush after cleansing. I've found on any and all double sided cleansing and massage or LED light devices or brushes, that if I don't really do this, my skin will have unusual irritation from the facial cleanser residue. I always end up having some cleanser (gentle that I tolerate) residue on the cleanser side. If your skin seems irritated after use, this may be why. You may need to really rinse the blue light side before use to be sure no cleanser residue is on it. -The blue light is to be used on clean, dry skin. You don't really want to use skincare products with LED light devices unless professionally advised to do so, it can cause skin reactions and irritation. -Something I'd suggest with cleansing. It may not be for everyone. With acne not everyone will like it or want to do it or tolerate it. I really like to do a double facial cleanse. For my first cleanse I use a balm or oil (plain apricot kernel oil or Albolene balm) and do not use a powered brush. I use an inexpensive silicone manual brush (Lil Scrubbies are my favorite) with this and then rinse. For my second wash I use a powered brush (silicone or fibred) and a normal cleanser (Cerave Foaming or ZapZyt salicylic acid cleanser are both gentle but through and my favorites) with my brush. It keeps makeup, oily or balmy (which can be greasy) cleansers out of my brush and keeps my brushes nicer longer. Also my skin seems to really benefit from this method. -I'd suggest following up your final cleanse with a nice miceallar water. I love Bioderma Sensibio (get the bottle with the press down pump dispenser, not a regular cap), it's gentle, cleanses well and I don't have to rinse afterward. I like to cut in half a Intrinsics 407300 Petite Silken Wipes cloth to use with the micellar water as it's a good value, cleanses well and is gentle and doesn’t waste liquid products. -A few times a week, I like to substitute for my second cleanse a muslin cloth vs brush. Karlling 10 Cotton Facial Cleansing Muslin Cloths are the ones I use and love. The will wrinkle badly in the wash, but when wet with water they smooth right out during use and you don’t notice or feel the wrinkles, they come right out during use. They add some gentle exfoliation and are similar to the pricey Eve Lom muslin cloths. -You may want to consider using the included eye protective goggles during use. I didn't have to with this one and I do with others that project the light out more visibly. -I'm going to use this mostly for the LED blue light vs cleansing, as it's just not my favorite cleansing brush. But it is my new favorite LED blue light device, and I've tried several and prefer this to stronger ones. -Note that blue light is more for acne, and red light (which this device does not have) is more for general skincare. It may be something you'll also want to consider and look into. ... show more

  • Refreshing face cleasing
This review is for the PMD Clean Acne - Smart Facial Cleansing Device with blue light. I love a vibrating silicone face cleanser. A friend gave me one a few years ago and I can't live without one now and this one is fabulous. While I wish the bristles were a little longer like one of my old ones, it's not a deal breaker. I feel like a get a good cleanse. It's comfortable to hold and the charge lasts a good long time. I don't know how well the blue light works. I don't get a lot of acne in the months I've had the device so don't know that it's gotten better but I haven't had any acne issues so that's good. so we'll have to see as we go into winter. But it's easy to use. Overall I've been really happy with the device. ... show more

  • Its okay.
I've been using this facial brush every other day for a couple of weeks to try to clear up my breakout problems. It's easy to use, and the design is very cute. However, I haven't seen any improvement in my skin. It feels like a regular brush, not one that deep cleans dirt from my face. Very disappointed on this product. ... show more

  • Warning: This Will *Not* Clean Your Face
I really wanted to love this product; however, the bristles on this PMD face scrubber are SO SHORT that they do not clean your face at all… and I was using plenty of soap, but there were literally no soap bubbles…So I compared it my other PMD face scrubber, which I had been using (it’s the original one without the blue light: “Clean.”) Although that wand is a little bit smaller, the bristles were slightly longer, so it cleans your skin more. If your main reason for purchasing this very expensive item is because you want something to ”clean” your face, DON’T BUY THIS PRODUCT. Save your money. It’s way overpriced anyway. On the other side, there’s a blue light feature which is cool. It works. They give you goggle things to protect your eyes. I do love that there’s a lot of surface area coverage for the blue light side, so I would recommend it only for the blue light. But you can find other blue light products that are handheld for less. To PMD- I wish the wand would vibrate when I’m using the blue light side too (not just the scrub side). It vibrates for a quick second when it touches your skin, but I wish it had the option to keep the vibration going to give me a facial massage. ... show more

  • Broke after a few uses. Different kind of clean
Update: Lights stopped working after a month. Vibration still works but no more lights. Not durable. Expected more for this price point. This dual sided device has helped with inflammation and redness. It’s unusual to use at first and it doesn’t feel like you’re doing much agitation of the cleanser on the skin but that’s the point. It’s kinda like when I switched from a manual toothbrush to a sonic one. I no longer press down, scrub, or vigorously brush; it’s a test of patience and holding the brush still and letting the vibrations do the work. This is the same. I still use a gentle cleanser and I lightly hold the scrubber over different areas of my face concentrating on oily problem areas. Since using the blue light I’ve noticed a reduction of redness and bumps around my nose, chin and hairline. This comes with a case so it’s easy to take for travel. ... show more
