I bought a 25 lb bag of daffodil bulbs, and knew I needed a way to dig holes for them without taking weeks or too much effort. After perusing the alternatives, I chose this. It is just right for the job. I use it with a corded 1/2" drill, and a long extension cord. I suppose a battery drill would be a bit less hassle but I imagined myself draining the battery pretty quick. The downside of using a powerful drill with this is that when you hit a rock or root, it can wrench your hand/wrist/thumb. I have an extra handle on my drill and brace the drill's primary handle against my knee. Also, I plunge the unit slowly and am wary of obstructions. Got this after seeing someone at the beach put their umbrella in the ground so quickly. You definitely need a certain volt drill to go with it and I would suggest wiping it down because it rusted when I brought it home and did not wipe the bit off. Also tried this outside to put a stake in the ground. It does not go as deep as I thought it would and when you reverse the drill it really does not take the dirt out. my friend ended up just yanking it straight out of the ground in order to leave a hole.
