This tool appears well made. I believe the weld goes all the way through the eye, inside ground n buffed to a finished look. It’s stronger. Others have the bit welded just to eye outside handle and seem pitted. Weak. Stick into handle works well, bit cuts, I punch a starter hole and it’s easy. Use w care. The one I received the bit has a few tiny chips out along cutting edge, no big deal (can be sharpened). Used w care (gloves or something covering the bit when holding) the peg maker works, go easy w confidence. One can go w make ur own pegs no problem. This is a fun shop/camp tool, left to ur imagination and skill - no telling - what one can make ! Leather case nicely made. I received this for Father’s Day and I was astounded by the quality and presentation of this amazing tool. For starters it came in a sturdy nicely designed box. After opening the box I saw a heavy stitched leather sheath designed to hold up to regular wear and use. The tool itself is stainless steel and was created to hold up to what it was designed for being hammered on repeatedly and sharpened to be drilled with the same. I’m beyond happy with this ingenious tool and hope to have it for years to come. Sure there are other tools similar to this that offer extra little tools with it but that’s because they are less durable and the quality is subpar. ... show more

This thing is EXACTLY what they say it is. It is an excellent addition to the Old School Camper's kit or any Survival Toolkit. It is SHARP and extremely well made. I received it quickly and immediately took it out to the woodshed for testing. It is a little hard to start into a solid chunk of wood but a small tap with any decent sized stick will remedy that. I used two birch logs and a limb to just run a test and within 20 minutes had a rung solidly connected between the logs. It does require a good bit of elbow grease but this tool is excellent! I love it and love it so much for my bug out kit that I bought one for my son and am buying several more for gifts. The sheath is good leather and well made for belt wear and I found a way to attach it to my backpack strap that will suit it well. The metal is good quality and the welds are top notch. As a lifelong backpacker, PCT veteran and general Old Ways enthusiast, I can say this impressive tool with be with me for many years to come!! HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! ... show more
