  • My favorite new toy
So it is both a guitar effects and a vocal effects processor. I will be using this any time I play live acoustic guitar. It is also a DI box for the guitar. The vocal harmony effects are good enough to use in live gigs. I added the 3 button switch for easier control of the looper. I had to stumble through the menu to get the foot switch to work as the default setting is for the 6 button switch. That has been the only glitch. ... show more

  • ALL YOU NEED FOR SOLO GIGS
This magic box gives one a vocal and guitar processor. I use it for adding vocal harmonies and effects to my vocals while playing acoustic/electric guitar. The guitar processing will give you reverb, chorus, delay and resonance. Once you take the time to program your settings, it's all plug-and-play with just one small box. The output is XLR (voice and guitar) Great for playing live, tool. ... show more

  • Acoustic Player's Swiss Army Knife; Great on Vocal Effects, A Little Clumsy for Instruments.
I've actually bitten the bullet for two of these, one for my studio/practice equipment and another for my road rig. I do use effects, e.g. a synth and octave pedal, but alone the TC Helicon Play Acoustic can carry its own. Love the vocal effect presets and customizable guitar body rez and reverb settings. This box EXCELs at vocal effects, ambient settings, harmony variants, etc. What it doesn't do so well, in my opinion is on-the-fly guitar effects, unless one is prepared to spend hours learning and applying the use of custom pre-sets. I would think this would not be time-conducive to all but the nutters among us. Therefore, I've found going into my instrument settings for a 'base configuration,' then applying the factory presets on top of it is useful. On my road rig, also with a TCHPA, I augment the guitar effects with a Zoom AC-3 which gives better on-the-fly results. ... show more

  • Best reasonably priced voice unit. I wish they still make the Play Electric.
Don't know what happened to this company. For solo acts like my self they had the best..But just remember in life everything come to an end. As is my Play Electric but for 20 years it has served me well. Was still able to get the Play acoustic. Not as many electric guitar effects, Delay has been added. ... show more

  • outstanding for the solo acoustic guitarist
This is an outstanding piece of gear.. what it does it does extremely well. 1. Acoustic guitar tone. TC have mimic'd the resonance of the body of an acoustic guitar in some way.. there are 5 basic acoustic "models" to start with, and each has quite some degree of flexibility in tone. bottom line is a MAJOR improvement in acoustic tone from a piezo based guitar. 2. Mic tone With doing nothing at all, there is an adaptive tone, de-esser and compressor added to your vocals. instant improvement. 3. transparent pitch correct based upon key detection from guitar (or aux) input.. Not saying you cannot sing, but having 50% level is transparent and very effective. 4. programmable harmonies based upon key & chord detection. 5. tuner and looper...15 sec with undo/redo thats kinda it... there are a bunch of presets that you can change store recall for song sepcific setups.. but not these are predominantly dor the vocal tone/harmony/effect.. you effectively have ONE acoustic guitar tone... but then again.. thats all most need This is a great deal, offers a lot, and finally you can play your acoustic amplified without cringing over the tone. ... show more
