Features

  • POWERFUL AND EFFICIENT: Powered by Viper 43cc engine, this unit has the power to attack all kinds of dirt and soil. Start the unit with the pull of a recoil, engage the throttle and dig. Our fuel-efficient engine is EPA and CARB compliant has a translucent gas tank allowing the user to easily see when fuel needs to be added.
  • TOUGH AND DURABLE: Aluminum castings, alloy gears, and ball bearings- these are the materials used to make a transmission that can withstand repeatedly drilling into the ground. Steel welded handlebars offer the rugged durability needed at any jobsite.
  • SHOCK ABSORBING: A breakaway clutch minimizes torque transfer to the user when encountering rocks, roots and other obstacles during the digging process. The heavy-duty spring is designed to be shock absorbing allowing for safer and smoother operation.
  • ALL AROUND SAVINGS: Time, money and energy is what you can expect to save with a Tazz Earth Auger. Manual post hole diggers are exhausting and time consuming. You can own a Tazz for a fraction of the cost of a rental unit and have it readily available for future projects.
  • JUST THE FACTS: 8 Diameter auger will accommodate up to a 4 x 4 post. Drilling depth is 36 inches. Mixed Fuel 50: 1 Gas/Oil Ratio.
  • SUPPORT AND SERVICE: Our US based support staff and 3- year ensure your satisfaction. For heavy users we offer replacement parts like blades and fishtail points are readily available.

  • Runs great and starts right up.
Style: Hole Digger
The auger started right up after adding the 2 stroke 50 to 1 gas mix. I only had to bolt the auger to the motor head. I used it on a 95 degree day and drilled several holes for 1 gallon plants. Our soil is more rock than dirt in places and it worked great, even chewed a few rocks in half. My caution for everyone is hold on tight but don’t wrap your thumbs around the handles lest you break a thumb. When I hit a 4 inch pine tree root the auger stopped dead but the power head started spinning around and out of my hands with great force. Use caution! The dirt was extremely dry so about 1/2 through I simply put water in the holes and went for lunch. On returning the auger chewed right through. Great machine and a real back saver. I have a hundred fence posts to set so this will save me time money and aches and pains. ... show more

  • Wow
Style: Hole Digger
All I can say is, why did I not buy this sooner?! So great for the farm. Wow, drill a hole for a tree/ sapling in about 20 seconds. What a back-saver compared to a post-hole digger. I drilled holes for planting 20 walnut saplings in about 20 minutes or less. Took longer to walk from hole to hole than to drill them. Will work great for fence posts. Why use a tractor auger when you can carry this around on an atv / utv? Easy to use. Already paid for itself even if it broke down tomorrow! ... show more

  • Auger
Style: Hole Digger
I used this for the first time yesterday. Very impressed so far. No problem getting it started. Worked very well digging the post holes I needed. It cut thru concrete hard Tennessee clay ground and chewed up a few tree roots in the processed. If it last as long as my last auger; I will be very pleased. ... show more

  • All early indications are this is a workhorse!
Style: Hole Digger
I had the same situation as John R. mentioned in his review. I went to my local Harbor Freight to pick up their auger for a fence build. They were out of stock (especially nice after Covid staging outside for a half-hour), and the two major box stores were also out of stock. After a few reviews, it looked like the Tazz was comparable to the Earthquake and Harbor Freight models. I only had 9 post holes to dig, but the Tazz made fast work out of them. The 8 inch bit was just the right size for the post holes. Some of the holes were a bit tougher, as I have lots of trees in the yard. I caught a few roots as I was digging down. The torque is great, and I was making three foot holes in less than a minute. But when I caught those roots, the torque would transfer to my hands. I recommend gloves, or blisters could be easy to make if it snags enough times on roots. It's not overly heavy and pretty easy to manage. And strong. Total time for those 9 holes was 15 minutes, which included pruning out the snags of roots that remained in the hole before I finished digging it. For the price point, ample strength to bore through the ground with ease, and 8 inch bit, I'm very happy with the purchase, and look forward to many years of use with the Tazz. ... show more

  • Exceeded my expectations for planting 1 to 5 gallon new plantings
Style: Hole Digger
I was skeptical about this product at 1st as I live in San Luis Obisbo county in the wine country with Calcareous soil. Think lots of limestone rocks...great for growing wine grapes, olive trees, and weeds. This soil type is brutal on basic tools and when its dry its impossible to put a shovel or pick into it. It requires heavy equipment if you have to go down more than 18 inches. You can water a whole you have started, but it still can be difficult without a tractor with and auger. I was not interested in putting fence posts in, only planting 1 and 5 gallon plants down about 18 to 24 inches. The Tass Auger worked AWESOME for me. It took less than a minute per hole. There was only one hole that I needed the pry bar to break up the rock. This one man auger saved my back and now I can enjoy planting and landscaping again. I give this 5 stars. ... show more

  • This Auger is Great
Style: Hole Digger
Works perfectly and if it gets hung up on roots it doesn't try throwing you across the street. It was a Great investment and will pay for itself. 8 inch is perfect for fence posts.

  • Worked well the first time
Style: Hole Digger
This started easily the first time, but got progressively more difficult to start with each use. I was only able to dig holes on 4 separate occasions. I couldn’t get it to start the 5th time. I have a tiller with a 4-stroke Viper engine, and I love it. It starts easily every time and runs well. The 2-stroke engine on this is absolutely terrible. ... show more

  • Solid easy to use one man post hole digger
Style: Hole Digger
Easy one man post hole digger. I’m 71 and in pretty good shape. I researched multiple post hole diggers and settled on this one and I’m very pleased. The throttle is easy to use and if you take your time you can easily prevent the unit from twisting out of control. Two of my initial four holes were in rocky soil with numerous roots. This required several attempts while using a long handle in between to loosen up the debris. I was surprised it came with an 8 inch auger which makes a big difference in making holes for 4x4 posts. I would recommend wearing chaps or other protective clothing in case debris does fly out of the hole as you remove the unit. I use Stihl canned 50:1 oil/gas for all my equipment as it prevents carburetor problems down the road. So far a very solid and easy to use digger for the cost. ... show more
