  • What a fantastic little tool for practicing guitar
Color: MultiColored
I've had this for about two months now. It is a fantastic tool to learn music and is a tool that has accelerated my guitar skills. Being able to copy songs to the SD card and then using Windows to name files really simplifies organizing songs you are working on. The A-B repeat function is right there at your finger tips so replaying certain sections of the song you are having difficulty is easy and quick. I love the change "key" function. You can adjust the key of the song to the chords you are playing or to your voice. Even in small increments. The device is just the right size for quick portability. I plan on taking it with me to jam sessions. The one issue I have is the lack of backlit display. It's not a problem for me now because I've positioned it under a light where I practice my guitar. But I haven't used it outside my practice room .....and as others have said that might be an issue in an environment that doesn't have adequate light. But then since it is a practice device where are you going to use it anyway. Maybe a little book reader light or something would negate that issue. Update July 2018. I've had this little device for over 6 months now. What a little gem it is. You can record a song your playing cover. Then playback and adjust the key up to 6 semitones if your singing voice prefers a key different from the original. Also if your guitar seems a little out of tune to the original, you can fine tune the key by tiny amounts so that it sounds perfectly in tune with the recorded playback. This little gadget has improved my playing exponentially! ... show more

  • It works great, but really not drastically differently then the previous ...
Color: MultiColored
I really want to give this thing five stars, but one thing they gotta do is remodel it with a backlit LCD screen, because no matter if your room is dark or bright or anything in between, you will not be able to see what's on this things screen unless you pick it up and stick it in front of your eyeball! In the settings menu, there is a function for adjusting the contrast; but as worthless as far as I'm concerned. It works great, but really not drastically differently then the previous generation which I had for years. The major improvement, which is a must-have, is the foot switch. It can be programmed for different ways, and makes an awesome addition to his device. FYI, it uses the same ac adapter as the previous model. The GT-1?? Forgot the model number but the burgundy looking one. So if you're replacing that model don't throw away the power supply!!! Save money! Like the previous version, the effects are so so, but I'm used to playing thru a tube Marshall. If you play clear or on a solid state amp, and like that ibanez hum bucket type distortion, you'll be quite happy. Most of the time,I just use it as a stand alone device to train with, and slow down licks, and record, but play my guitar, amp, and effects as I would normally. So I get to enjoy the sound I like while enjoying the trainer for what it does best. In other words, I don't use it for its effects, so it's good for me! The ability to record yourself playing along to music is a kick butt addition! And the removable media card up 32 GB is great. Over all great device with some cool improvements over the old one. ... show more

  • Will be Replaced by a Phone App
Color: MultiColored
It's only a matter of time until all the functions of this device are replaced by an app. Hell, even right now there are features of this in free apps you can download. All some smart developer needs to do is put them all together and charge $4.99 and he'll sell a ton of them. As I started fiddling around with this device, I found it a little tricky to use and not intuitive when it came to balancing the guitar signal and backing track so they are clear enough to work with. Also when I plugged in the USB to my Win 10 laptop no icon came up which would make file transfers simple. I had to take out the sd card, put it into my computer, load the card then reinstall. I'm sending it back because someday it will break or stop working whereas a phone app with all the same features is less problematic. If you want a good deal on an actual device check out Pyle product line of Bluetooth karaoke amps at the same to half the price of this with more features.... https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Karaoke-Amplifier-Microphone/dp/B07MV3PMZD/ref=sr_1_3?crid=HEBXO6AIGEHI&dchild=1&keywords=pyle+bluetooth+karaoke+amplifier&qid=1593714644&sprefix=pyle+bluetooth+karioke+amp%2Caps%2C235&sr=8-3 ... show more
