  • Works great
This is a great little mic. Just remember you need phantom power supply or it will not work.

  • Good budget XLR condenser
Sounds good for it's price. Can be powered with any cheapest audio interface. Indestructable. If you get it with additional discount, it might be just a no-brainer solution. What else you need to ask for? Maybe a foam cover but you shouldn't complain at all.

  • Great condenser mic with “everything you need” for fantastic price
Sound quality is great, easily on par with any mic I have under $200. And I love that it comes with not only a shock mount but a tripod and even a short XLR cable. I’ve got plenty of XLR cables I use in live music recording applications that are way longer than needed for my “podcast” setup, so that extra touch made a difference to me, and obviously would to anyone just getting started as well. All that said, I’m afraid the tripod is a bit of joke. The mic is heavy - in a good-feeling way - and will topple the tiny tripod unless you position it “just so”, and the mechanism for holding it at a particular angle is also likely to not hold unless you balance it in a way that you don’t put too much stress on it. It’s also not tall enough to allow the cable to run freely with the mic held upright, but it does work upside down, which is fine. Anyhow, I managed to find a way to set I up that works for me, but options were limited. I may yet get a boom / scissor stand. But I’m happy to have something I could work with day one “out of the box”. ... show more

Very good sound

  • Still getting used to it
I'm still getting used to the device. I'm not happy with the overall quality of sound. It's well built and heavy...which is good. However, the sound quality just seems off.....even with tweaking from software. I will give it one more week and come back to my review.

  • Fantastic Budget Microphone
I'm an 19 year old college student into music production and obviously I'm on a budget. I love this microphone especially for the price. It sounds great on vocals and when recording my acoustic guitar. You can really get this thing sounding great when you start mixing it. It sounds clear and very crisp but not too crisp to where you hate the high end of it. it's perfect for my voice. ... show more

  • Simply amazing.
I got this mic off of recommendations given in a few YouTube videos for budget mics and I am not disappointed to say the least. I was rocking a Blue Yeti and a fake dynamic mic before to make music (vocals), but with this Tascam TM-80, my songs sound miles better with the vocals being crystal clear. It's true that XLR microphones are better for vocals rather than digital USB variants. Given the price of this I am even more blown away, I highly recommend this. ... show more

  • Great mic. Sounds excellent.
Used as an external computer mic. Very clear and solid sound. Needs phantom power obviously but an excellent product.
