I bought the TARARIUM Aquarium Filter Powerful 260GPH for 35-75 Gallon Fish Tank filter for my red eared slider turtle's tank (55 gallon tank with about 25 gallons of water). I rescued the turtle and honestly had no idea how dirty these guys are. I have had to replace multiple filters, so I bought this as a replacement and as a second filter to the one I already had. The filter uses no cartridges (saves $$), it has foam that you take out and clean each time it needs cleaning. The foam gets dirty pretty quickly but there is no additional cost for extra filters unless the foam detierorates, although that has not been an issue yet! It functions well and cleans the water and the filth well. It has a hose that uses air (I attach the hose to my a fake plants branch) and it creates a strong stream or current that my turtle loves to stand in, the pressure massages him! I have had the filter for a few months now and I waited to write the review so I could provide a real review and I am extremely happy with this filter. I would buy again and recommend. It is durable, quiet and my turtle loves it! I reached out to the company when I received it because I thought I was missing something and they responded right away. Customer service is good too! I don't know how it would be for fish, the water is pushed pretty hard by the air, but I am happy with it for my turtle!!! ... show more

I’m using this to filter the water in my cold tub. It works pretty well. Very powerful jet of water coming out of the filter which is great for my application but don’t know how fish would like it. The filter material is fine but probably could be improved upon (I need to clean the material every other week). Good value. Easy cleaning. Good product ... show more

1) The nozzle that introduces air into the water stream just makes a loud hissing noise. I chose to just keep my bubbler and cap off the inlet. 2)The install is fairly easy with the suction cup mount provided. 3) Water clarity was very dingy after installing this as my sole filter. I had to remove one of the foam filters and install ceramic rings in the basket and now my tank is crystal clear after 2 days of it being modified. Overall i would recommend this filter if your tired of the noise and everything associated with a hang on the back filter, i am a novice at fish tanks and took a big jump replacing my filter with this one as i don’t know what to look for. The bio rings were a shot in the dark that ended up working thankfully. The filter is also bigger then i excepted maybe 15-18” long and 3-4” around. ... show more

I love this Filter! It does a great job and is easy to clean. I've had it for several months now and have had no issues with it at all. It really creates a strong current in the aquarium, but not so strong that it disturbs the sand substrate. The ONLY issue i could see with this is that it's slightly noisy. I wouldn't want this in my bedroom running while i was trying to sleep. It's louder than a fan but quieter than a pencil sharpener. That said, It's in my classroom aquarium and it creates a decent white-noise that still allows it to get quiet enough when we're testing. ... show more

Ive been using this as a temporary filter for a cold plunge and this thing performs fantastic. Lots of suction for it's size and cleans the water nicely. Filter is the perfect size to fit my needs at an amazing value. Durability is definitely there and works great in near freezing water. I purchased this filter June 11th and it has already gone bad. While it did work, it kept the tank super clean. I’ve tried cleaning it and taking it apart to see if maybe that would help but it has stopped working.

I bought this to tide me over until I got the canister filter I had ordered. I hoped it would keep the tank going temporarily. The next morning I nearly had a heart attack. My tank had not been this clean in ages and I could not hear a noise from it.. I have an 80 gallon and this one little filter cleaned that large of a tank. I am going to buy another one for my 60 gallon. Highly recommend, especially for the price!!! ... show more
