The sole reason I purchased this was because of the UV, it was working great for 2 weeks preventing the water in my Red Ear Slider's tank from turning green and did a fine job at filtering it as well. However, after 2 weeks of use out of the blue the UV light stopped working, completely dead. I have ordered a replacement and will update my review after a month of use. ... show more

I bought this to use in my converted deep freeze to cold plunge and have been using about 30 days. This pump is rated for up to 120 gallons, I’m using bt 75-100 gallons. It does a fair job of water displacement and does well at catching debris in the filter. It’s probably better suited for 50-75 gallons, for my purpose. For aquarium use, it’s probably well suited. I really only have 2 issues; 1. The sponge filter decinegrates after 30 days, will need replacements for long term use; 2. The suction cups lose their suction after about 3 weeks. Could use an actual filter layer, not just mesh. Two me that makes it more a 2 in one. Additionally the air hose for aeration is impossible to keep water out of. I've completely dried the unit 3 times to reinstall it and it always gurgles and makes a loud noise from the end of the tube.

Just finished my cycle and bought my first 4 fish to put in my 75 gallon cichlid tank and out of nowhere I get that algae bloom. Ordered the light, got it on Wednesday (first picture). It is the following Tuesday and my water is crystal clear. It was actually cleared by Sunday. I am cautious with off brand things, but this UV filter works. Initially I had it on the 24h setting but have since changed it to 8h. Might go to 4 and try to get a little growth on the surfaces for my algae eaters. ... show more
