  • Nice guitar - well built - good sound - decent electronics
I've owned a Takamine as my main guitar for over 30 years, so when looking for a smaller travel guitar I gave the Taka-Mine a shot. I've had it for over a month and it's growing on me. Calibration from the factory was good - just a minor truss rod adjustment was all that was needed. My only complaint is the tuning keys as the guitar should stay in better tune without frequent tweaks. The electronics are good, though I do find slight adjustments on the three band EQ necessary to get the right sound. Overall, I think this is an excellent instrument and a good value for the money. ... show more

  • Great for travel, but not great compared to full-size
Low end is weak with poor tone, mid and high sound clear and beautiful. Its action could be slightly lower. I wish it had a slightly wider nut. Compared to a similarly-priced full-size guitar, this one is far behind. But it is so small! It's very impressive for its size. It shouldn't be your main guitar, but as a travel guitar it does a fine job. It's really light, but it's still sturdy. ... show more

  • This Takamine loves the amp but needs a gentle hand
Acoustically, this Taka-mini is a teeny bit thin on the bass because of its 3/4 size body. However, mids & trebles are excellent. The Takamine folks put exceptionally upper-grade electronics in this guitar considering its price tier. As a result, amped -- with a bit of bass boost -- it sounds really REALLY nice. Absolutely gig worthy! Whether played amped or acoustic, it's got a nicely balanced sound when finger-picked or strummed with a gentle hand. This Taka does NOT sound its best if I use a heavy hand for strumming or flat-picking. Fit & finish are superb. Intonation is excellent up to 11th fret, and "very good" from 12th fret & up. Its appearance is altogether lovely -- gets a lot of compliments. It's very comfortable to play whether standing, or sitting, or scrunched up in the back seat of a compact car. Now that I've played my Taka for a good while, if I had to buy it again (knowing what I know now), I would do so without hesitation. ... show more

  • Small Hands and Short Fingers
I'm a very new learner, with small hands and short fingers...and delighted to have found this Takamine 3/4 which has a slim neck and sounds great! (I have been frustrated with my first guitar purchase ...a lovely Cordoba mini...which is beautiful and small but has a neck that's too wide for me to manage. ) ... show more

  • WORTH IT!
Absoltely great guitar! I picked one up at sam ash but if anyone is considering to get on amazon so worth it! I love my mini Taka! Feels great, sounds great and full, and has built in tuner and has a pick up so it can be played through an amp!

  • Good quality acoustic guitar with low tones.
I am a small woman...5ft and 2 inches in height. I was looking for a quality, smaller acoustic guitar and very pleases with the Takamine “ Taka-mini”! Love the low tones...like a full size acoustic guitar. Many hours of playing and video taping.
