  • A Great Sounding Guitar!
Great Sound, easy to play and gives you the rich dreadnaught tone! Coupled with a good pickup system , this has become one of my favorites to play! At first, I was worried about the hpl but now in love with it! No worries about too much or not enough moisture with this guitar! No cracking of the finish, no shrinking of the wood. Just play it ! ... show more

  • What's a Martinez?
The Martin D-X2E-02 is a great entry-level guitar. Since it's made in Mexico, those of us who own one here in New Mexico joke that we now own a “Martinez". It has a fast neck, excellent action, tonal accuracy, and its easy on the fingers. Like most Martin dreadnoughts, it has bright highs and boomy lows. It plays quietly in a living room or projects to the back of the hall at a venue This guitar looks like a Martin, sounds like a Martin, and for the money you can't beat it. ... show more

  • Average, stay away from X Series, Buy D'Angelico instead.
I have had the product now for a little while. To the point I traded it in for a D'Angelico Premier Grammercy Carmel Burst. The Martin had some issues. Action was sky high, I would had to pay someone to setup. Neck wasn't my favorite. It was actually laminated, yearly the neck as well as the entire body. Sound and pickups were nice. Though not having a cutaway hurt as well. I wanted a Martin because of the name. I was wrong. ... show more

  • Martin Quality at a great price
Size: Right Color: HPL Koa Top
The guitar was a gift for my son and he loves it. You get Martin quality at a great price with this purchase. And the gig bag that comes with the guitar makes the purchase even more of a deal. The gig bag is really well constructed and makes transporting the guitar around, which my son does quite often, even easier and safer. ... show more

  • The good and the bad
I own a couple expensive guitars but not a 6 string dreadnought, so I thot I’d give this a whirl. The good - string action is surprisingly good, I did not have to shave down the saddle and I like my action really low. The guitar itself is well built for being a countertop with strings, I’ll bet if you leave this out in the rain it would survive. The neck shape is total high end, this doesn’t feel like an import neck, feels totally pro. The pickup system sounds awesome, I really like the volume and tone controls in the sound hole. The gig bag looks classy, I’m glad they threw one in. The Bad - string tension is terrible, I had to put 10-47 gauge strings to tolerate playing it. There’s no real wood sound coming out of this instrument but what the hey it’s made of Formica, so this is what Formica sounds like. I had to adjust the nut and file them deeper, most economy guitars need that anyway. In conclusion if you’re looking to get that Martin experience this is not the guitar you want. If you’ve never played a Martin before you probably won’t know the difference, but for $500 it’s a decent guitar if you can do all the things I did to make it go. ... show more

If your on the fence about a new acoustic this won't disappoint. It's nice and rugged and still has that unforgettable Martin sound. Just love the time this thing has great bass and treble
