I bought the Lava Me Play on 10/3 and it arrived 10/9 in perfect condition. It's a small guitar for sure, somewhere between a parlor and OO size. The HPL body makes for a super light, slightly neck-heavy guitar. There's a usb-c charging port on the bottom of the body (I immediately put a magnetic charging adapter on it to minimize strain on the usb port until I pick up the wireless charging stand). It came with about 58% charge and after roughly 4 hours of playing with all the bells and whistles it was down to 51%, so it seems like it will last quite a while on a full charge. The big selling point of this guitar is obviously all the smart features. If you, like me, watched videos on YouTube of the Lava Me 3 and thought it looked cool, but too pricey for what may turn out to be a gimmick, this guitar has all the Lava Me 3's features with a faster processor and more memory for a smoother interface. For $400, it does a LOT of cool stuff. The built in tuner, drum tracks, looper, and lessons are all top notch. The effects are numerous and range from great to totally gimmicky, but the simple reverb, flange, and phase settings are pretty great. I need to spend more time playing around with settings (I boosted the effects volume in advanced settings by about 25% - any more than that and the feedback the app warns you about starts to become an issue), but I'm confident in saying that the value for money for the Lava Me Play is pretty incredible. Yeah, the HPL feels and sounds cheap when played without effects, but those effects overcome the shortcomings and then some. It's a little bit like saying a strat sounds crappy unplugged - that ain't the way it's meant to be played. All-in-all, I'm super impressed with this fun, kinda weird looking tech demo of a guitar. I've played for over 25 years, have played many different kinds of guitars and can't think of one that's more fun to play than this. If you're a beginner, grab one - it will make learning easier and way more fun (and the super low action makes for happy fingers). If you're a guitar vet and want to play with something fun and different, you can't go wrong with the Lava Me Play. (Also, it connected to my WiFi no problem, not sure what could cause the other reviewer here's WiFi issue, but my guitar thankfully didn't share that problem.) ... show more

This was a gift for my grandson who is learning to play the guitar. He took to it immediately and finds so much joy and relaxation making music. I worried this would be another item he would quickly become bored with, but he has shown so much interest in it. His friends come by to play and make music with him as well. I’m grabbing another for my granddaughter for a Christmas! This is such a great guitar and not only for beginners. My son loves it and he’s a great guitarist. Worth every cent! ... show more

Super surprised by quality of the guitar!! and the functionalities. I have the lava me 2 and like it a lot, I recently have seen lots of IG influencers like Mateus Asato and so on that are playing with the loops and backing tracks on the lava me 3 and 4, then I decided to give it a try, so I bought the most affordable version — lava me play. And MY GOSH, I was completely blown away by how much I enjoyed playing it. The guitar is like a mini studio or creative hub if you will, I have created 3 short pieces in a day, there are LOTS of drum loops and backing tracks that you can choose from. I think it’s the “instant experience” that sparks so many ideas. The effects are really neat too, especially if you plug it in or record internally. It’s definitely a big leap from the lava me 2! The playability of this guitar is amazing, it doesn’t feel like a 399 guitar, it’s well made and I don’t have to worry about taking care of it, just like my lava me 2. I think if you don’t wanna spend that much for the features or if you’re a beginner, the lava me play is really a perfect choice !!! Love it so much <3 ... show more

I got this for my husband for his birthday. I haven't given it to him yet but I gave it 5 stars because of the look and quality so far. It's light weight and comes with a case. I'll come back and update this once he has a chance to play with it but so far it seems great!

The bullet points: - Poor acoustic quality, acoustic guitars below $200 blow this out of the water. - Electric guitars around the $200 mark provide better results through pedals, amps, and recording devices. - this guitar is somewhat compact, has less frets on the neck, and doesn't completely take the place of an ordinary guitar. - there is no guitar in this price range with this list of features all in a single semi-portable package If I had to decide whether to get this guitar all over again, after having owned it for a month, I think I would instead just get a cheap electric, and rocksmith+ for the same price, and ultimately unlock a much better beginner guitar experience for this price. If I didn't have either a gaming PC or at least an xbox one for Rocksmith 2014, then I'd definitely still buy this guitar. I just wanted a guitar that would be convenient to learn on, and discovered better options later on. As it stands currently, I am using the Lava with rocksmith and it's been mostly great at that anyway. ... show more
