  • BUZZ BOX
Color: Natural
Bought this in Nov. 2020 from amazon and sent it right back. Nice looking guitar but unplayable. Checked neck relief and it was OK so likely due to fret problems. Fret work from a competent luthier ain't cheap and not worth it to me. Remember, you can't just adjust the truss rod to correct buzz if the relief is already ok. Also, remember that you can't just grind on a saddle to correct action. 3 things must be correct first: Distance from strings to top at least 13mm, break angle of strings over saddle correct and height of saddle at least 4mm. 1mm reduction in action requires 2mm cut on saddle plus loss of break angle and loss of distance from strings to top all of which kills the sound. ... show more

  • Great value
Color: Natural
Great value. Keeps the tuning, very playable - no adjustment was necessary out of the box in my case. Strong bright tone with clear and readable middles and a mellow bass, great sustain, the neck is playable and in tune all the way up, I love the split bridge. Note, it comes without the storage case and without the gig bag. Sounds amazing when plugged in - the pickups are great. ... show more

  • For the money a great kick around take everywhere guitar.
Color: Natural
I'm partial to Japanese made Takamine guitars and would put them up against anything from the top American guitar makers. That said, this one is made in China and I must admit I was VERY skeptical. I wanted a take everywhere guitar that I did not have to worry about getting dinged or damaged and this one fit the bill perfectly. On board electronics, a great neck radius (very similar to a Taylor) and effortless playing. At $349.00 you would be surprised how great it sounds unplugged right out of the box and amplified through a BOSE system. It has room for very minor set-ups that will only enhance its playability. For my songwriting/playing purposes it will more that hold its own against guitars costing 2-3X as much. ... show more

  • item didn't even match the picture
Color: Natural
Lessons learned. I was excited to receive this item for the 2013 Christmas, however, I was a surprised how difficult it was to play due to guitar needed to be "setup". I didn't even know what that was...I played guitar when I was younger, but usually purchase a cheaper used models. From what i've learned is that most new guitars need a setup especially the ones that are not made from Japan for USA (these guitar are usually 2x or 3x the cost). It was also highly recommend to get a case which could cost up to $100. To perform a guitar setup correctly highly recommend a professional person who fix guitars, it cost somewhere between $60 - $80. The takamine guitar at the store are mostly setup and kept in the humidified I sent this item back Amazon because you can tell this guitar was just sitting in the warehouse outside of nice humidified room, and it was made in China (I don't believe the description mention anything about were it was made) and the wood was Mahogany a bit darker than I wanted. Also, would recommend getting a guitar tuner (snark)...the one built-in for this model just isn't too accurate. I went ahead an purchase another Takamine guitar GN71CE at the store which came with hardshell case. ... show more
