    • Air not impact sprayer. Start small...
I bought this because I needed a replacement for my old Craftsman impact sprayer, and I have tons of Ryobi batteries. The first observation is that this handheld sprayer is basically an air compressor outfitted with a sprayer. Also, I noticed that the pressure output is much more significant with the larger capacity batteries versus the smaller stock tool batteries. The pressure starts decreasing at about half the charge, so be mindful of the motor's loudness and notice when it starts to become more quiet. You might notice that the paint begins to be a little splotchy. For latex paints, it takes quite a bit of latex paint thinner (DO NOT USE WATER) to get the paint thin enough to drain through the provided cup in the 20-60 seconds that the manual requires. The thinner the paint, the better. My suggestion is that you start with a test spray on a cardboard box. Start with the lowest output setting and slowly increase until you get the right amount of paint spray. Too much flow, then you start getting too much paint that then has air that creates bubbles on the painted surface. I used a blow dryer after about a 15-minute settling period to help the paint dry. The more paint thinner you add, the longer it takes to dry. The sprayer breaks apart easily and is easy to clean. There is a channel that the paint flows through the trigger that the brush doesn't fit in, so be careful to get all that paint with a pipe cleaner. The manual does not mention anything about the different nozzles that come with it. Do you increase the flow, or increase the nozzle size? I have to experiment more. Overall, this fits the bill and I feel like for a casual painter, this will last a long time. ... show more

    • It works and it does accept ryobi batteries
I bought it not that long ago, and recently got to use it in a nightstand project. It works, but something about this tool tells me it not going to last. It could be my bias towards the quality of the tool. Nonetheless, It is simple to clean, and it's nice that it includes a brush. There are different tips size that is included in the package. It's a spray gun so it's simple to use just pull the trigger. It seems to spray glob of paint, so I had to dilute the water based paint a lot. But it comes with the territory when working with paint. I am glad it does use Ryobi 18 volt batteries because I have a good collection of their tools. My final thought are that it is decent sprayer, it works, and simple to use. Would I recommend it not really, but if you are willing to fork out the dough which is not a lot go for it. If not save up and get a better quality paint sprayer. ... show more

    • Would Not Recommend
I bought this in hopes it would be less work than using rollers and brushes when painting small rooms, it was not. My experience was the canister holding the paint ran out quickly, very quickly. Like it would run out every 1/2 way through the wall so I had to refill 4 times per wall since I did a double. I had to spend A LOT of time thinning and reloading the paint gun. I also found it had a small spray radius so it took a ton of passes to cover a wall from ceiling to floor which was a lot of work. Even after I finished spraying multiple coats I STILL found there were spots that were not evenly painted despite all the time I spent trying my best to ensure even coverage. In the end I finished up the project with rollers and paint brushes. I can see how using a paint sprayer could save a ton of time and make things easy but not with this product. If you're painting small rooms and want to air spray I'd probably look at buying a Graco Paint Plus system. No thinning required and it looks way more powerful. Also this thing burned through Ryobi batteries so be prepared to have a few 4ah batteries around and several chargers or you'll be waiting a while to finish your project. ... show more

Worked great for a few hours and then stopped working entirely. Tried a few different batteries and still will not turn on. Fan is not engaging with the trigger.

    • I'm delighted with this airless sprayer!
This cost about half the equivalent name-branded sprayer at Home Depot and I have no complaints. It is not 'heavy duty' but doesn't need to be for small jobs around a home. With the pickup tube set to the side, and used sideways, it's able to suck all the paint out of its reservoir. A half container covers a couple 4X8 panels. Somebody doing big jobs would be better off with a sprayer with a big paint container or a hose that drops in a bucket, sits on the ground, and pumps through a hose. But, cleaning those things is quite a job. For those of us who are building nothing bigger than a chicken coop, this is fine. It's very easy to pull apart and clean, can be done at a sink with running water if using water-based paint. With a new Ryobi LIPO battery it can paint several panels with a charge, maybe a room. ... show more

Worked as advertised. Best of all it works with my existing collection of Ryobi batteries. Caveat - this sprayer requires a lot of power: this project took 4 hour to complete but the sprayer used during that time five “4 Hour” Ryobi lithium batteries and two “3 hour” Ryobi lithium batteries.
