I bought these to patch some holes in my house. They came handy. And the quantity was good. The bristles on the brush are so thick and it is a good quality. It’s very easy to use them. I am so glad I selected the Bates brand with the pretty blue brushes!

Update: March 10, 2021. I’ve purchased 2 additional sets. I have found that the time & effort invested in cleaning to re-use the brushes after an oil-based paint does not bring back the original efficacy. The price makes it easier to replace than re-use. On the other hand, I have started using the br
ushes for latex paint projects and found them to clean up exceptionally well with soap & water. I’ve recently decided to update the old outdated guest bathroom and needed brushes to paint the cabinet. I am not an expert on brushes or painting but didn’t want to spend a lot on brushes and a variety pack was the solution to cover all my brush needs. This kit comes with one large brush for large surface areas and 2 narrower brushes for smaller surface areas and a 1-1/2” trim brush which is perfect for the cabinet. I used the 2-1/2” brush with Kilz Original Interior Oil Base for priming the cabinet and doors. I allowed to dry and later applied a second coat. I’m not the go-to person to ask on painting, but I was impressed by how soft and absorbent the bristles were and how smooth the paint spread on. I also liked not having to look for lost or runaway bristle strands hiding on the paint. As for the handle, it was firm and felt OK. I really felt like a Pro after my husband inspected my work. He liked the paint coverage and was shocked that I had no drips. Yep, NO DRIPS! I would like to say it was "zen" moment where brush and hand worked as one, but the truth is probably the brush is a better painter than I. In a couple of days, I’ll pick up some paint and give you an update. Overall, I’m happy with my brushes and the price.

Save money and buy this brushes

I have spent some money buying brushes for different jobs, but these brushes blew my mind. First they are smooth in use. It's like you're gliding when using the brush to paint. In addition, they are easy to clean. It takes less water to get rid of the paint residue in the brush unlike others that I h
ave used. Furthermore, it cleans completely, and retains its feel for subsequent use. I have only used it once, but after cleaning, it does not look or feel like it was ever used. No strand was lost and the brush still stands like new. See the picture taken after the first use. Finally, the price is a fraction of all the brands I have bought in hardware stores in the past. This is everything the DIYers need to have in their tool box.

ok for a home owner project. not a PURDY, neither is price

these are one job brushes for me, or primer brushes. they dont work like a top pro brush, but the whole set is one-third the cost of ONE pro brush. these are soft bristles, dont hold a ton of paint, work fine with thin oil stain, and are GREAT chip brushes, much better than disposable brushes.
