I have a 2016 limited with JBL. I have had a lot of issues with the OEM Radio, mostly around Bluetooth connection and call quality. I finally had enough. In addition I had a rental car recently that had CarPlay and I loved it! The Sygav Android 11 is a fantastic radio. It was easy to install and works perfectly. Sound quality is very good. Connection to our phones was easy. Before making my purchase I read a lot of reviews and did a lot of research. Based on some of the negative reviews, Sygav must be continuing to learn and upgrade these units based on feedback which is a good thing. - product was well packaged when it arrived - there was a quality check label included in the box - there is an owners manual in the box. English translation is poor though, but easy enough to figure out. - the JBL system only supplemental harness was in its own bag and clearly labeled - no detailed installation instructions but follow the video on the Amazon item page and it’s easy. Only issue I had was getting a piece of the cars trim back in properly but not really radio related - all buttons on the steering wheel worked perfectly including the phone call buttons. I didn’t have to program them - Factory USB and Aux both work perfectly. They also provide a cable that adds 2 more USB Ports but decided not to use them since my wife would hate exposed wires. - I placed the external mic hidden behind the HVAC panel and sound quality for calls is great. Also sending messages in CarPlay with Siri is well understood so the mic on the front of the unit must work well - unit boots up quickly. Reverse camera comes on even if it is in boot up or when the unit is turned off, which is great! - all car config functions are still available. Even unique ones like power tailgate opening height were all retained - tire pressures are now accessible to me, although in KPa not PSI. No biggie to me still an improvement over nothing that Toyota gives us access to. - you will lose the compass on the instrument panel with this unit. Also you will lose the audio display screen on the dash. Also if your car has Easy Speak, you will lose that function. None of these matter to me though. - the apps on the system could be configured a little better. The Zlink app that you use for CarPlay is several pages back but should be up front. I know these are configurable but I have to figure out how to do that. Overall extremely pleased with the Sygav unit. I’m looking forward to learning more about all the other functions to unlock the full potential. I also hope the unit proves reliable. ... show more

So removal is easy, no install directions, YouTube helps, but no wiring explanation and you don’t use all the stock connections so it seems scary. After a bit figure out the main connection and one for steering controls was all I needed. NO EXTRA HARNESS NEEDED. Came with everything even back up connection which I didn’t use. Power up takes about 20 seconds. But the wireless CarPlay is great. Programs the steering wheel controls was very easy. Just got it so long term can’t say. The head unit shiuld really come with an installation guide. Instead, it just comes with a user manual, which is good nevertheless. The installation is easy if you start from the bottom, but it gets confusing later. Installation is easy if you use a bike tire change tool or similar to open up the bottom paneling first. When installing, you also just have to understand that half of the connectors are supposed to not be connected to anything, both from your car and from the head unit, and it also doesn’t need to bolt into the main metal structural frame like the original stereo does. The boot up sequence for the device could also be faster in my opinion. I wish that I could qt least have the back up camera available sooner while carplay is loading in the background, but I kinda just learned to get used to the short ~15 second wait after starting the car. It’s also the case that wireless Apple CarPlay takes 5-10 seconds to connect and start up. ... show more

For 2008 Highlander Sport with JBL amp and Nav. There is virtually no installation instructions for the unit. Plastic bike tire changing tools work great for snapping off the sections of dash, starting from above gear shift and working your way up to the frame containing the air vents and small screen. After all sections above are removed, first remove two vent assemblies from the topmost vent and small screen frame. This can be done w a kitchen knife or multiple guitar picks by working around all the tabs until each unsnaps. These two vents then snap into product's unified replacement trim easily. The OEM metal bracket that holds the old nav head unit and small screen must be removed and replaced with only the small OEM screen in it. Next I connected all plugs as they fit with each other. For the rear OEM camera, I had to connect a provided brown plug with RCAs into the back of the head unit where shown in the manual; then connect its yellow Cam-In plug to its labeled mate coming off the product's canbus. For the new GPS and Antennas provided, I fished them through a hole to mount them in the ceiling of the glove compartment. I made sure everything was working before snapping the unit into place. Since the OEM Emergency flasher assembly is diff for Nav than baseline, I ordered a baseline Emergency flasher assembly and will install when it arrives. The fit and finish of the large plastic frame is good. Performance so far. With iPhone connected and BT set to auto-connect, the UI renders to CarPlay during the first few minutes in the vehicle. I have not attempted to set up the native apps on the head unit yet. So far I am relatively pleased with the entire product in CarPlay mode. The major non-functioning aspect is that the speakers in the rear of the cabin function but are linked to the front cabin balance control. The product's Amp controls for EQ and speaker balance work in all respects except they cannot balance with the speakers in the back seat area. After receiving the OEM Emergency button assembly and asking support about the rear speaker power, I will update this review. It would be SO EASY to update the documentation and have someone shoot a good YT video for each model scenario. Before making this decision I got proposals from several local auto stereo installers. None will touch the Android units made in China; recommending older tech such as Sony and Frontier. Truly amazing that I can pay $617 for this and install it myself instead of paying $1500 and getting a smaller screen and no Android OS features. A very strange gap in offerings. ... show more
