Installed this on a 2015 WRX Limited with Harmon Kardon sound system and it was a dream. This is the exact replacement I had been looking for as every other Android head unit seems to have an issue with the Harmon Kardon systems, but that is not the case here. Straight plug and play, no manual wire connecting or anything. Installed this in less than an hour. Was impressed that the steering wheel controls work was well with the app that lets you program them (I set the speak symbol to use the google assistant). Anyone that hasn't done this yet to there WRX needs to get on it...honestly the car should have come this way (probably better that the 2019 WRX system). ... show more

Let me start by saying that overall, this is a good head unit, but it is NOT straight plug and play. The Good: -It's essentially a decently specc'd android tablet, and so apps are snappy, screen looks good, transitions are fluid. Anything I can think of that I would want to run in my car, I can. -Android Auto works wired AND wirelessly, I havent been able to test carplay yet as I dont have an apple device. -Large screen while still looking stock once you finally get it installed. -The included free nav software works wonderfully and will definitely come in handy if you are ever without cell signal. -The unit has a standby type feature that allows it to start up immediately with the vehicle, rather than having to wait for a fresh boot. A lot more similar to turning your phone screen on than it is to turning your phone on after you've turned it off completely. -Backup camera works immediately, even if the unit isnt fully booted yet. -If you use the "Chat With Us" option on their website, they are very responsive. Just remember, they are in china so you might be reaching out to them in the middle of the night. The Bad: -If the unit is too warm, the screen will blink until the unit cools down. I'm eventually going to look into installing a PC fan in the dash to run whenever the stereo is powered. This does go away once the car cools down and only happens if you run the stereo after the car has been sitting in the sun. - 4 of the clips were just slightly too wide and had to be shaved down. It took me quite a while to figure out that this was the reason I couldnt get it to push in all the way, since they do appear to line up and it wasnt until I noticed some marring on the dash clip holders that I took out my calipers and measured. -Unit did not come with the correct backup camera wiring harness for my xv crosstrek. I'm not unfamiliar with 12 volt wiring, and after a few hours of research, I was able to figure out what wires on the factory harness needed to go to what wires on the provided stereo harness. You can see my attached photos for reference, but basically I made 4 jumper cables (you can hardwire if you want, i prefer not to mess with the stock wiring). Using the cables, I attached the black power ground from the aftermarket camera harness to pin 15 on the factory harness, the black camera ground to pin 16, the yellow signal wire to pin 8, and the red power wire to pin 7. Vehicle 2017 Forester 2.5i no nav no Harmon Kardon I can't believe I waited this long to upgrade. Install was super easy, everything I needed was included. I had a little trouble getting the back up camera to work but I emailed them and they got right back to me. they wanted me to take a photo of my install and I wasn't in a rush to pull my dash apart again but planned to tackle it in the morning. While I slept THEY actually emailed ME a photo of the connection required and that's all it took. Programing the SWC (steering wheel controls) is easy but you do need to go into the settings and be sure to save. Not sure what wattage this thing is putting out but it seems to be at least 25% Louder than factory head unit and less distortion at the top. Install was quick but you do have to remove your vents and ac/heat console which was super easy. Fitment in my Foz was trickier the 1st time as I was afraid I would push too hard somewhere and break something. The second time took care to make sure I routed all the cables and then put the bottom in first then I had to sort of bend the top piece down into its slots. This is where I was afraid to break it but I gave'r the ole install shoulder shove and its snug AF now! If you're on the fence like I was, I highly recommend you indulge yourself! ... show more

    • Headache and Not for 2016 Crosstrek

I really wanted to like this radio. I really did. Here’s my issues: 1. CarPlay is very hit or miss First of all, if you plan on remote starting your car, your phone won’t connect to CarPlay until you turn the car off and on again. It’s like there’s a 10 second window on when you start the car, the radio tries to pair, and then will give up until completely restarted. I tried just turning the radio off and on, but it would only work if the engine itself was stopped for a few seconds. That and the CarPlay connection success rate was maybe 60%. 2. Improper Connections for a 2016 Crosstrek The back up camera harness does NOT connect on a 2016 crosstrek. I tried messaging them about it, they were less than helpful. 3. I had to manually install new software onto it out of the box because it was not functioning when I received it. It was a hassle, especially for a product that claims to be 100% plug and play. 4. I could never keep it connected to a WiFi network. It would always kick itself off within a second or two. 5. The adhesive for both the gps antenna and microphone failed within 24 hours. 6. I returned it over 10 days ago. Still no refund or acknowledgment that the return is starting. What I liked: 1. The plastic trim looked great and really made the interior look great. 2. Should habeen the factory installed radio. Sounds great, has great built in apps for radio, music, GPS etc. Main screen launcher is fantastic. Steering wheel controls worked with radio like magic. All cables needed came with radio. Just unplus old radio, plug in cables to car, plug in new radio. It was that easy. Hardest part was removing left screw in old radio. Tip: tilt steering wheel up and you Have access to left bolt without removing any dash plastics. Overall it was a good purchase to get all the cables pre-made. ... show more
