I have had the unit for 3 months. It's a game changer and worth the hassle of install even for a noob like me. PURCHASING Sygav has a very responsive WhatsApp if you are sending them messages during daytime in east Asia. I was able to confirm my car would be compatible over WhatsApp, purchased the unit, and receive it within a week. I installed it less than 2 weeks later when my buddy had space in his garage and time to give me an extra pair of hands (which I recommend). INSTALLATION Install isn't trivial here. You should be comfortable unhooking your battery. You need to have the right sockets and a wrench for getting a stock head unit out. If you are planning to embed the call microphone in your dash, you'll want a flexible long flashlight to get into tight spaces the way a phone or Maglite can't. Once those prereqs are out of the way, though, this is significantly easier than splicing your own cables to the car's existing ones, etc. Yes, it's plug and play. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube for how to install so I will just go over a few things I wish someone had said in a tutorial. - my model does not have purely digital A/C controls. It has metal wire in jackets (like bike brakes) to turn gears located below and behind the head unit. Those are a PAIN to unhook if you try to pull them the wrong direction. Only the middle knob for me was digital, so having a second person to undo the other side while holding the head unit with you in their other hand is worth having for this step imho. Do not try and extend the microphone cable. The stock Subaru call microphone is located in front of the sunglasses compartment, but it is NOT an ideal spot for an analog mic like the one in this kit. The Subaru stock one has an analog to digital conversion board right behind the mic itself so that it can go the long distance around the windshield and down to the stock head unit. You can't retain the stock mic with this kit, so you may need to consider taking Sygav's advice and sticking the mic on top of the steering column where it's close to your mouth. If you extend the included 3.5mm jack cable, you will attenuate the sound so far that your caller won't be able to hear you even if you adjust the mic volume in settings on the unit. When you reconnect the battery, you will have removed the Starlink unit. There is an orange LED near the sunglasses holder above the unit that will stay on since you removed that. Not sure if anyone cares that the car knows you removed it, but now you know. THIS HAS WIRELESS ANDROID AUTO and WIRELESS CARPLAY ALREADY as long as you go through all the software updates when you first turn on the unit. Zlink often fights the WiFi though if it detects a compatible phone for wireless Carplay or AA. If you plan to use a hotspot, watch out, the car may attempt to pull up Zlink automatically and switch it's WiFi from client to Direct host to enable wireless AA or Carplay. The radio is pretty nice. I was surprised how easy the install was plug and play. It did take about a hour. About another 30mins to set up and play with the features. I have had it installed for a week and no issues. My only issue is that it takes a while to start up and hook up to Android auto.

For context, I've bought three radios this year from 3 different vendors. Each had issues with proper fit/advertised options or customer support. I have a 3 year old Sygav octocore unit in right now. Works, but is slowing down from age. I contacted sygav to see if my current wiring harness would work with the new model. This is because I have an after market sound system installed. Was told, 'YES'. NOPE! I can't. After installing it, I noticed my 4g dongle does not work. Advertised as 4g compatible. NOPE! Was told by email from Sygav that android 11 does NOT support this. I was a Sygav fan. Not so much anymore. Waste of my one day off this week. Sent unit back. ... show more

Product fits amazing, huge improvement sound and screen wise over factory. In order to get steering wheel controls to work you have to use the app within the unit to make volume steering controls work correctly. Otherwise its an amazing upgrade and only a couple hours for install (based on a 2015 impreza with the silver bezels around the airvents. Because instead of hvac control being all electric you have to remove the cables for the temp and vents) ... show more

All of the similar Android head units with the similar hardware and screens including this SGAV are a great upgrade to stock audio/video systems. Installing on a 2017 base model Forester. Installation is fairly easy for a DIY person depending on your vehicle. Beware if you are a larger person like myself with mechanical A/C controls (instead of electronic) it is much more difficult because in addition to one bolt on each side under the dash to remove the old head unit there is a cable on both the drives side and passenger side that will have to be unattached in two places in order to remove the head unit before you can install this SGAV Android head unit. Though it was not a problem seeing to cable attachment location on the passenger side after removal of the glove box, the driver side cable attachment is blind unless you can lay down under the dash looking up with a light which I'm too large (6’ 2”@265lb) to do, thus in order to see what I was working on I had to remove all the dash panels both next too and under the steering column on the driver side including the airbag module in order to both see and remove that A/C cable. One of the advantages of the SGAV head unit is it has 3 USB ports and includes a SD slot with a 32 GB Micro SD card with online maps and it supports drive sizes up to 64 GB on the SD slot or other drives attached via USB ports. Much of the competition has 2 USB ports and no slots for SD cards which results in this SGAV head unit having an advantage of twice as much external storage capacity. I made a decision to purchase this SGAV unit based on good reviews with similar hardware plus the fact that it advertised a 10.2" screen and included a SD slot for more storage capability. I was disappointed to learn the screen was the same size as the competition that advertised their screens as 9", but were essentially identical to this screen in size, so I returned the SGAV unit for a competitors because it was $100 less than this unit. The customer service at SGAV is reportedly good, but I never contacted them. Yes this is a good head unit as the unit housing and the wire harnesses appear well made, but be aware the usable screen size is 9" and not the 10.2" advertised screen size unless measured outside bezel corner to bezel corner dimensions which is the same as most the other competition that are 9" and appear the same in photos. Certainly would give it 5 stars had the description been more accurate, but removed on star for that inaccuracy. ... show more
