  • Buyer Caution
So this works fine. The quality is great. BUT.... If your boat is not a standard design hull, it may not work. Ours is a 23 foot Yamaha jet boat and it made the wake so much worse. The forums say we need to add bigger fat sacks to make this work. Which more weight increases the RPM of the boat. We already turn 8,000 RPM towing. The bigger sacs now push 9,800 RPM. Which in turn drinks fuel and makes the boat extremely loud. While this wake shaper worked fine on our friend's older Mastercraft X30. Though not on the other friend's Tahoe. So how do you know if it will work for your boat? Go to tow speed with your typical weight. Take a picture of the area where it would mount on your boat. Look to see how much water is flowing past that area. If the hull shape is pushing too much water away and will not enable this thing to bite well, it will not work. If the backend of your hull is deep in the water, like on the X30, where the water is flowing over the top of the swim platform on partial sacks. Then it will have enough bite to work. My hull shape stinks. Putting a 800 pounds on the platform. Another 1200 pounds in the nose and ski lockers with 10 people. Might as well spend the money on a new boat that already is designed to throw epic waves. So I know it is me, not the product. Only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is that I wish these guys were a bit more informational on their advertising and website. The lack of critical elevation information would have saved me a lot of money and time. But then they would have sold one less wake shaper if they were more helpful. ... show more

  • Wow - I am kicking myself for not buying this earlier. Works GREAT!
I have a 2007 Supra 21V with upgraded Phat Sacks, but I still can't get a surfable wake unless I have a boat full of people. My wife and I went out over the weekend and we tested the Swell for the first time. WOW. Night and day difference. See attached photos. The choppy one is with front and right sacks half full and left sack full. Not surfable. The other two pictures are once I attached the Swell. I did play around with the angle settings and found minor differences. The best on my boat was angled forward at the top and backward at the bottom. This setting produced an almost waist high perfect wave on my boat. I tied a piece of paracord to it and attached a bright orange 3x12 fender to it, so that if it does fall off I can find it easily. That sits in the boat and will get pulled over if it detaches. I had no problems though - the suction was great. Absolutely incredible value and a game changed for anyone with an older boat that doesn't have something like this built in. ... show more

  • Awsome wake shaper
I have a 2012 MB Tomcat. I makes a good wake but not clean. Bought the wake shaper and what a difference! Suck a clean nice wake now. Love this thing.

  • Made well, didn’t work for us.
So the Swell suck gate was made well and it has great suction it just didn’t do much for my boat. I have an older direct drive and honestly the wave was smaller but way more clean and crisp without the suck gate. We couldn’t get enough push with it so we ended up surfing without it the rest of the trip because it was more fun without it. I know it works well with newer Vdrive boats just didn’t do anything for us. I’m guessing if you were to fill your direct drive with fat sacs you might get a cleaner wave with more push. ... show more

  • Fun While it Lasted... Suction Sucks (but not really)
One day on the water... didn't have a bouy for the tether line so I thought I'd just give it a couple of passes at 10.5 mps and see how the wake shapes up. Came back to the boat and the wake shaper was GONE. Learn from my mistake and do NOT trust the suction cups. Tether it to a bouy so you can find it when it flies off. ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck
We have a 2013 Malibu 21 v-ride Wakesetter. I found this model worked best for us in terms of wake height & curl. Very pleased with the product. Only reason I gave a 4 star is sometimes I have an issue to get the suction cups to mount correctly; it can take multiple attempts to get them to suction correctly. But once they’re on, the suction power & strength is fantastic! ... show more

  • Surfing even with a direct drive
This thing was way better than expected. Super easy to set up. Clear instructions and shaped the wave right out of the box. Surfed rope less at first attempt behind a direct drive boat. Little more work and we’ll get this thing really dialed in. Swell has great customer service with questions about set up too! ... show more

  • Difficult on a direct drive
We have a direct drive boat and the swell did create a larger wave, however it wasnt enough to ride it without the rope. Also tried adding about 600lbs in sand bags to help and was better but wasn't enough for the wave to keep on it without the rope.
