I use this on some shorter focal length refractors. The optics seem good enough and I'm able to successfully guide using the scope. My only complaints are the focus method and the alignment of the scope in its mount. To focus you rotate the objective end but if there is a lot of distance to cover it becomes cumbersome. If you need to adjust where the scope is pointing, the supplied mount hardly gives you any travel to do so. Aside from these complaints, it does the job at a decent value.

It’s amazing the quality of the optics and overall build quality. I wasn’t expecting much having a limited budget to work with, but it easily exceeded my expectations. of course clouds and rain arrived with it so I haven’t had an opportunity to image with it yet, but after playing with it for a couple hours I have no doubt it’ll perform. thing is beyond rock soild and achieves plenty good enough focus for what it’ll be used for. I didn’t notice any meaningful aberration even on a 32mp sensor and detail was still better than most of multi-thousand dollar Canon L glass I’ve got… Been playing with astrophotograpry since film was the only option and this is the first guide scope I’ve owned, far better than looking down the scope all night with an off axis guider and reticle eyepiece and hand controller in the guide port… Technology has really spoiled us.

This guide scope is very much a trade-off in terms of price vs quality. The ZWO alternative is better and pricier, and the William Optics is better and pricier still. Worth comparing. The outer optic is close to the front of the guide scope and no dew shield is provided. This is a dew issue, and some have remedied with a 3D-printed part. I gather these came without the sides of the plastic optic cells blackened, but I opened mine to blacken them and saw a bit of a lazy effort had been done (I blackened more). It’s a touch annoying to focus, but workable. (ZWO’s is also annoying, WO’s is better). It looks pretty nice and has a nice profile. Most of that is a trade-off in price I wouldn’t drop stars for. But when with some efforts taken to improve the product, it *does* seem to have noticeably poorer light transmission than the ZWO and WO (especially WO) alternatives, and that’s obnoxious under more challenging conditions. It is quite usable with a ZWO ASI120MM, but less sensitive guide cameras could potentially create some fuss in challenging scenarios (e.g. heavy light pollution). Personally, I’d only select this product if budget is extremely tight. For a bit more $109 total new) the William Optics 32mm UniGuide is a much, much higher quality product. But this product can be made to do its job reasonably.

the product build is good and tested it during day to get the focus working before trying it out at night. didn't know and realized that the hex screws were tight on the ring base. therefore i couldn't get the guide scope inside the ring. it took lot of effort and in doing so got scratches from those screws. then i realized i had to loosen them then put the guide scope in. there's no manual for this or any kind of note stating such arrangement. now my guide scope looks ugly as a result of scratches. so please make a note of hex screws being tight and not let the user figure it out on their own. this is silly. hoping the scope works fine at night. *Update: svbony customer service was able help out with this and sent an another one. This time everything worked fine. no issues. weather hasn't been clear but once it clear. should be good to go. glad they were able to help out. will keep them in mind for future.

Great quality guide scope. No need to spend almost twice as much for the ZWO scope. The ZWO 120 mini fits in perfectly and snugly for autoguiding.

Works great with the sv305 pro and sv503 80mm. Just don't forget to loosen the red ring to adjust the focus! Everything I've gotten from SVBONY has been great. Would definitely recommend.
