  • Our 1-1/4" Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light

Description

Our 1-1/4" Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light. This includes mercury vapor, and both high and low pressure sodium vapor lights and the unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. sky glow). The new ultra high contrast (UHC) LPR filter has improved contrast over the typical broadband filters. Sky background is darker, and contrast of emission nebulae are noticeably improved. The advanced technology coatings enable the filter to achieve an outstanding transmission of over 97% across the entire bandpass, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. The perfect filter for viewing nebula from light polluted skies, or for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites. In addition to it's optimum spectral and optical characteristics, the UHC/LPR filter offers important features that set it apart and result in the highest quality celestial views: The multi-layer dielectric coatings are plasma assisted and Ionbeam hardened using the latest technology for durability and resistance to scratching. Improved transmission translates to maximum image brightness and contrast. Users of smaller, 4"-11" telescopes will especially appreciate the high efficiency, and larger scope users will love the rich star fields and detailed subtle nebular shadings that are left intact. The high transmission, sharp cutoffs, and more moderate 60nm passband of the UHC/LPR filter retains a more natural view, yet significantly boosts overall contrast. Imagers will appreciate the broader bandpass and inclusion of an extremely efficient H-Alpha passband (656nm).

  • gives nebulae more contrast and more shape
This UHC filter does its job at making nebulae have more contrast and more shape. This filter works with emission and planetary nebulae. It makes nebulae have about 30% more contrast. It is especially effective on the orion nebula and even bette on the M27 Dumbell nebula. The below reviewers clearly do not know how lpr filters work. It will not eliminate light pollution, just lessen the effect of it. I use this on my Orion XT10i Dobsonian (10 inch aperture). The uhc filter is more well rounded than an OIII filter. It is actually $20 cheaper on Amazon than on Celestrons own website. ... show more

  • Excellent Filter !
Works as advertised ... Cuts down on light pollution significantly and enhances contrast. Pic below is of the Orion Nebula in a light polluted environment (LA suburb).

  • Works well and I don't see much, if any color variation compared to other image I see online.
This filter works well and I don't see much, if any color variation compared to other images I see online. Here is a single image capturing 30 seconds of light from M42.

  • Pics for proof
As you can see , the filter works. It's irrefutable that it works . The reviews I've seen that have been negative don't mention what scope they have . Refractor or reflector ? What's the aperture ?? I have a 5" Newtonian. Astro master 130. No problem here .

  • Great product.
I live in Milpitas California and without this filter it was difficult to spot the orion nebula(pretty much blend into the background). Definitely made a difference for me. Just a heads up that what you'lll see in the telescope will be a white blob unless you use photography. The telescope that I use is an 8" Orion dobsonian telescope. Also, it does dim certain stars so don't expect to see every stars. ... show more

  • Great Filter for City Dwellers
This is a great filter. I've used on many light polluted nights on the outskirts of a large city. It also helps with some planetary details in general. The filter feels pretty solid and I'm happy with the quality of the glass.

  • Great light pollution filter
This filter helped me achieve great results in a red zone for light pollution. Attached is a picture that I took combining 23 2min exposures using this filter.

  • Awesome!
Observing from slightly light polluted areas, this filter made a huge difference. I would definitely recommend this to any serious deep sky observer!
