  • first aid kit with gadgets.
Let's dive right into this. I'll start with the cons. Glow sticks, not needed, There is a flashlight provided. Tactical pen, no Tactical paper to write my last will as I'm looking for a stop bleed or tourniquet. (An actual tourniquet)No water purification...you'll only use this kit for the 3 days your alive unless you find a water source that's not contaminated. As a basic first aid kit, yeah this will work great. You are not surviving harsh elements with this. They assume you'll be near water as they do provide fishing basics. Again with the no water purification. I'd love to sit in with the people who designs these. I'm only an average hiker, but I do a plethora of camping. Most of the items are your basic you forgot to bring the good tools, so you resort to this. I'm not saying it's bad, kinda, but it's not a survival kit. It's a cool guy, look at all the gadgets I'll never use, first aid kit. This will go in the go bag in the kids car. It will keep them occupied while I come for them! Now don't get me wrong, some of the tools could be useful for setting up a camp. Fire starter, ferring rod and rope. Emergency blanket, small hammer axe, mini finger saw and compass. Small shovel and pick axe and the spork. These items would be useful in helping you set up. If your putting this alongside your actual gear, or go bag it's a good extra first aid kit. Just make sure you have reliable equipment like water purification, maybe a food or mineral source, extra paracord, a better knife, perhaps a small tarp to make a lean-to. Stop bleed and a tourniquet, just in case. Depends on your emergency. My best advice is plan for the worst case scenario and prepare for that, if it ever happens. I pray it never does, but at least you'll be ready if it does. ... show more

  • A very useful gift.
Over all, I like this emergency pack but, I will customize it soon. The best parts of the kit are the main bag, the first aid bag inside, flashlight, knife, spork, ferro rod and hemp rope for tinder. Quality of the multi tools and shovel are questionable. The fist aid kit could use burn ointment and less alcohol pads. There seems to be a lot of the same size bandages also. I would take the shovel and hammer multi tool out and replace them with a tourniquet and bandanna for use as a sling, etc. I’d also install a better compass, some electrolytes, Imodium and water purifying tablets as well. The kit is good as is and a good place start. It would make a nice gift for anyone. ... show more

  • I'm impressed
I'm duly impressed with how much stuff is in this little pouch. I went through it and first impression everything seems good quality and useful. The blades are sharp. The moving parts are oiled well and easy to move. That said, there are a few changes I would make, but would anyone? I think there a few too many bandages and that sort of thing. I'm sure it's just to inflate the number to 256 items. There are a few items missing that any survival pack should have, namely any sort of water filtration or container. Even a collapsible water bottle or similar would be something. I also found a few things redundant. There are 3 whistles altogether, though 2 of them are built into other things; the cover for the knife/spoon and the clasp of the paracord bracelet. A good starter for any 'Bug Out Bag'. Of course there are necessary additions, but that's what makes it fun. Impressed I got it all back in the pack, even if it was a little fatter. ... show more

  • Belongs in your trunk/bugout bag/camping supplies. Maybe too much kit for backpacking.
Pretty complete assortment of entry-level survival tools. Bag itself has all of the possible attachment points to add other equipment, add to another backpack or to carry on a belt. Really, there are too many different products here to comfortably carry or would be necessary for anything but an emergency. Each of the major items are pretty well designed and appear useful. Haven't tried bashing a zombie yet with the shovel, nor would I want to build a bridge using the axe/hammer and saw, but would be useful for building say an emergency fire pit or lean-to. First aid kit is devoid of any real chemicals other than some alcohol/iodine/sting relief pads. You should supplement as you see fit. I would definitely add water purification. Solid starter kit with a great carry bag. Pick and choose the items you really want to carry and add others as you see fit. ... show more

  • Smaller than expected
Considering everything that is in here, this is small. But, this is a great emergency kit to have on camping trips, road trips, just in your car for everyday emergencies. It is impossible to say when it will be useful, but if you don't have a kit in your car at the very least consider this one. Also if you do, realize the tools in here are small, they are not everyday tools, these are emergency only, please get better tools if you need something for a normal job. ... show more
