This is EXACTLY what I needed. Walking by the AC one night I could smell electrical wires getting hot. Having turned on the AC for the first time this year, I was less than happy. A lot less. A transformers job is to take the high voltage coming from the outlet (typically 110v or 120v) and transform it to a low volt (typically 12 or 24). with it not working the AC will not come on, and well as previously mentioned, it can get hot and smell. This one arrived within two days and before you can say "its hot as poop in here" I had the new one installed. four very color coded wires and 2 screws was all it took. The wires have clips so no fancy wire cutters on this job. This was very easy, Any one should be able to do this ( unless you wear skinny jeans and play video games all day instead of work) Cheers, ... show more

Item arrived DOA. I had to splice the transformer in to test it, which voids being able to return it. It appeared to have been mishandled as one of the tabs was bent. Had to order a second transformer from another seller. $40 down the drain.

This transformer works as described, but I wish the leads were longer. Makes a quick repair with leads already terminated.

My old one was making a buzzing sound for a while. Bought this one and it’s a good replacement. Wish the wires were longer though.

A pad mount transformer blew in my neighborhood and knocked us off line for about 8 hours. When the power was restored, my AC unit would not power. I am no HVAC expert but decided to investigate. Upon opening the access point. I was struck with a very strong smell. As bizarre as it might sound, it smelled like a burnt band aid. First thing I did was check the fuse and it was good. From there I checked the voltage coming out of the transformer going to the main board on the furnace. Even after insuring power was reaching the transformer input, the output side measured zero volts (and the smell most definitely originated from the transformer). Since it was mid Summer, I ordered a transformer (this one) and so did my wife. The first transformer was dead on arrival but this one worked as expected. I was getting around 28V on the output side of the transformer. Woohoo! My only complaint is the length of the cables. Would be nice if both sides were another 8 inches. My wife thinks I’m a total stud and we only suffered for a day. And I’m certain I saved myself $200-400 for a service call. ... show more
