This mower is fine - it is fine for a small yard where the grass is mowed regularly. The mower came mostly put together. It comes with 3 attachments for the back - a grass collection bag, a mulcher, and a side shooter. The side shooter would not attach and stay on. It started easily and the display shows the speed and the length it is cutting at, which is nice. It is difficult to change the cutting height. It is on the side of the mower and takes a lot of effort to change it. You use both batteries at once and it has one charger. The batteries took about an hour to charge. They lasted for about 30 minutes before they needed to be charged again. It had trouble getting through any grass of height. It would stop every time and I would have to pull it back and restart it. I have 1/3 of an acre, and barely got through my front yard before the batteries died. I switched to my E-GO mower, which is much more powerful, to finish up. ... show more

    • Flaw with self propelled right out of the box.
The mower shows promise, and I wish I could do a full review on it. On my copy, if the blade is on AND I am using the self propelled, the propelled aspect will cut out randomly. The blade continues to spin, but it stops being propelled. It may go a couple minutes, or it may cut out repeatedly. There is no rhyme or reason. This is with a fully charged battery and with a very solid grip on the switch that enables self propelled. It’s really frustrating, especially with the lag that comes from starting up that feature. If I have the blade off, the thing will go wherever you want it to go and doesn’t cut out, so it has something to do with both being on. ... show more

It finally stopped raining long enough for me to set up the mower and try it out. Unfortunately, though, I was only able to mow my backyard - about .25-.30 acres. Because of all the rain we've been getting, my grass was starting to get tall and thick, so I figured this would be a good test. Unboxing and setting up the mower was easy. After charging both batteries, I installed and reinstalled them because I didn't push them in far enough :) . The mower is easy to start - press the power button, pull the bar towards you, and you're off. I had an issue where it kept cutting off after only mowing for several feet. I finally figured out that the handle wasn't bolted into the body tight enough. After tightening the bolt, I didn't have any problems. The forward assist is great! You can set how fast you want the mower to go (mph) when you activate, and it will zoom right along. Adjusting the blade height is easy also. Simply press a button, pull up on the deck to your preferred height, and it locks in place. The Smartscreen is easy to read and uncluttered. I downloaded the app and added the batteries to the app. After fiddling with it for about 15 minutes, I uninstalled the app. I really don't see any sense in having an app just to see how much charge is left on a battery. The mower maneuvers well, but the handle is a bit awkward, which is why I took off a star. To operate the mower, you have to grasp the green ignition bar and the side handles at the same time. On the gas mowers I've had, mower handle is one long bar, so you can hold the ignition and mower handle together in the center of the handle. Because the mower handle on this mower is two separate handles, holding the ignition bar and the handles from the sides is not very comfortable. I hope this is just a matter of getting used to the configuration. The mower is quiet and cuts a wide path. I have about an acre of lawn to mow and use a zeroturn for the big areas, but I use a smaller 21 inch gas mower for the trimming and down on the sides of the drainage ditch. My older gas mower gave out and I ordered this battery mower. This is kind of a "Cadillac" of mowers. It is a 21 inch mower with a brushless 40 volt electric motor. It came with two batteries 4.0ah capacity. (you only need one to operate the mower) A single port charger, an extra blade and three modes of grass discharge. The discharge opening is on the back of the mower deck. It has a spring cover over the opening. So, first, there is a plug that goes into the opening so now you are mulching. Next, it has a curved shoot that attaches to the spring door to direct the grass out to the right side. And the last is a bagger that attaches to the back of the mower deck and the grass goes directly straight back into the bag. There is a centralized deck height adjustnet lock for easy height change in one push. The push handle has two positions for length and four positions for tilt. All easily adjusted by spring tensioned pin mechanisims. At the top of the handle bar is a large display showing you the amount of charge left, the blade speed mode and the propelled speed. Oh, did I say that this is a self-propelled mower with the drive to the back wheels. You can adjust the speed via the display. There are ports for both batteries, but you onlu need one to run the mower. If you have both batteries mounted, when one runs out of juice, the other kicks in. The batteries are also bluetooth enabled and there is an app that shows the charge state of each battery. It has very good safety features, a hold bar to run the blade motor and hand switches to to engage the propelling motor. There is probably enough battery power to do my whole lawn, but I use about 1/2 to 2/3's of one battery for my trimming. It takes about two hours to recharge one battery from it's discharge state.
