The first one of these which I ordered, had a seam with missing stitches, and it was big enough for me to put my entire hand through the umbrella, from the outside, to the inside (see attached photo). I returned it for a replacement, and was quickly sent a new one, which was fine. So I am still giving this product 5 stars because of its many features, but check all the seams when you first receive the umbrella, to make sure that everything is stitched together properly. There are many beach umbrellas on Amazon which are very similar to this one, and this one is even a tiny bit smaller in diameter than some, but it has more features than any of the others... First of all, it comes in a bomb-proof case with a thick plastic bottom; most of the others just have a cheap nylon case with a thin strap. It has strong aluminum poles, which solid connections, and the angle of the poles can be articulated to protect against wind. This also comes with a metal trowel, spikes for sand, or dirt, and a sand bag for weighting the pole down at the beach. The umbrella material has 4 layers - outer and inside layers, which protect the 2 inner, coated UV protection layers. The tips for each rib do not slip off. There are also hook-to-hook type tethers. The umbrella itself has a really nice orange color. I did notice a strange "fishy" smell when I opened the umbrella, so hopefully this will dissipate. I have had many nylon and vinyl products in the past that have a chemical breakdown after a number of years, making them very sticky and smelly. Hopefully that will not happen with this umbrella, at least for awhile. Anyway, I highly recommend this one. ... show more

I was SO impressed with this product. My kids laughed at me bragging about it all week. Well made. Strong, sturdy parts. Works perfectly and as advertised. The case even looks great and is compact. Awesome shade with the double layer canopy. From unzipping the case to sitting under the deployed umbrella with a beverage in hand in about 3 minutes. The tilt function is clutch if you're on the beach all day, as you don't have to move your chairs at all, just rotate the pole and adjust the tilt angle. I didn't even have to use the outer anchors. With a normal beach breeze, it was plenty sturdy (using only the 'pitchfork' anchor on the main pole) and required no extra anchoring. My only minor gripe is that it's hard to loosen the tilt adjuster grip handle with sunscreened hands. But I figured out if you grab it with the hang strap that's right next to that adjuster, it works like a charm. Everything packs right back up just as fast as it deployed. So glad I spent a few more bucks and got this one rather than one of the cheaper ones. You won't regret it. Edit to add: I will recommend that you lubricate the zipper on the carrying case. I had to use pliers to open it the second trip to the beach bc the salt had corroded the zipper and it was somewhat stuck. I took some of my Yeti cooler zipper lube and applied, so should be good to go next beach trip. ... show more

Umbrella was used once and the sand bag strings broke immediately. Couldn’t tilt the umbrella or the wind would flipped it. The hooks on the umbrella piece for the additional sand bags are fragile and not strong enough to resist the wind. This product advertises as “wind resistant” and that is a lie. 1. **Poor Durability**: The frame feels flimsy. It doesn’t seem like it will last through a summer. 2. **Unstable in Wind**: Even with moderate wind, the umbrella struggles to stay upright. Despite using the provided sand anchor, it was unstable, making it a hassle to manage. 3. **Difficult to Set Up**: The setup instructions were unclear, and it took a lot of effort to get the umbrella properly assembled. It’s not user-friendly, especially for those looking for a quick and easy setup at the beach. The sand can get into the screw threads, making it very difficult to assemble. 4. **Insufficient UV Protection**: The primary reason for purchasing a beach umbrella is sun protection, but this one didn’t provide adequate shade. I still got sunburned despite sitting under it for most of the day. Overall, I would not recommend this beach umbrella. It’s better to invest in a more durable and stable option. I did quite a bit of research before purchasing this and let me tell you it paid off! This thing is amazing and will keep you cool all day and from getting burnt. Pros: - This umbrella is the first umbrella I've ever found that actually truly blocks the sun. I'm a natural redhead and I can sit under this all day and not get burnt, even without sunscreen. - The temperature difference is a good 15-20 degrees cooler under it than out in the sun. Last weekend at the beach I actually got a little chilly under this while it was sweltering in the sun. Cons: - This thing is small. It was difficult to get two people under it on the beach, and we're pretty small people. I'll most likely buy another to expand the coverage instead of a bigger different umbrella since this one works so well. - The setup is a learning curve. Pretty simple but a little odd. Once you put it up the first time it's super simple after. - This thing is not light. It's not overly heavy either just heavier than most for the size, but that's because it's so effective. We attach it to our beach wagon so it's not a big deal but carrying it more than a couple blocks would probably get annoying ... show more
