Features

  • Give a peaceful home to your betta --- When fish are given a homely ambiance, they tend to grow stronger. By creating ideal water conditions, we assure that they can prosper. The Indian Almond leaves are considered to have beneficial properties and increase fish appetite.
  • Have a breeding pet? Add catappa --- The tropical fishes create bubble nests using a floating leaf to anchor their bubbles. So, if your tank has a breeding tetra, guppy, platies, molly, cichlid or shrimps, just add these leaves and see them anchoring their eggs over IAL. That is a sight to behold.
  • Benefits other fish and snails too --- The tea water has many advantages for fishes like tetra, discus, and goldfish. It is good for rasboras and many dwarf cichlids too. Apart from that, snail owners can benefit from the magical leaves. Giving your fish this ambience calms them down. It imparts color to them and makes their scales firmer.
  • Smaller leaves, easier portion control --- Each packet contains 50 leaves measuring around 2-inches high which is a great value for money. Smaller Catappa leaves make for easier portion control and a good way to slowly introduce your pet to a new surrounding especially for smaller fishes in smaller tanks.
  • Adds beauty to nano tanks, small bowls and jars --- The Catappa leaves from SunGrow are unprocessed so you know what goes into your tank. They look pretty in a nano tank and add aesthetic beauty to your planted tank. You may even add these in individual betta jars or bowls.

  • I guess it works?
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
I placed these in both my tanks (2 bettas, male and female, separated completely) and they both seemed indifferent to them. One of the tanks changed color slightly but the water tests fine, so I'm guessing that's okay. I just saw a lot of people recommending these, and I do like how they look inside the aquariums. ... show more

  • Natural Habitat Enhancer
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
These Catappa leaves are a fantastic addition to my betta fish tank! They not only create a more natural environment but also provide essential benefits like tannins that help condition the water. My bettas seem much happier, and the leaves make a great hiding spot for them. Plus, the shrimp and guppies appreciate them too. With 50 leaves in the pack, it’s an excellent value for enhancing both aesthetics and fish health in the aquarium! ... show more

  • Slow releasing and hardy
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
Leaves came tightly packed in a small bag, though there were very few that were cracked or broken. The thumbnail image suggests that the leaves are reddish and shiny, but they are brown and dry, which is to be expected from catappa leaves for aquariums. The leaves are small and vary in size from about 2 and a half inches to one inch, from what I received. They are very hardy and release tannins slowly, barely tinting the water after a week or so until I had to inevitably perform a water change. I put a couple leaves in small mason jars and poured boiling water on them to try to extract tannins to put in my aquariums directly, but even after five days the water in the jars is only slightly brownish but does smell a bit like tea. The leaves look great and after a few days they will stop floating, though I slightly buried mine in the substrate until then. They last a long time compared to what I expected. The only problem I have experienced with these is that they are almost too durable, as I said before I've done water changes which certainly removed some of the released tannins, so it seems unlikely that they would build up unless if I put a huge amount of leaves in the tank at once. I don't suggest these for someone who wants to create blackwater environments, but if you want to have some leaf litter and a slight tint to your water, these are great. Coming in a pack of fifty means that they will probably last a while if you only have a few or smaller tanks. ... show more

  • High Quality Catappa Leaves For Cheap
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
This product was amazing, the leaves were very clean and the price was good for the amount of leaves you get. However, some of the leaves were broken into tiny pieces. Overall, a very good product

  • Calming and Soothing effect
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
My betta fish loves it... It doesn't just condition the tank water naturally, the betta fish also enjoys the calming and soothing effect of these leaves. 2 leaves in a 3-gallon fish tank has already done a brilliant job, 50pcs would last quite a while. Would recommend it!

  • not sure if small is better
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
this was my first time purchasing small almond leaves for my tanks. previously I have only purchased the more common larger leaves. They seemed to work as intended just not as effective as bigger almond leaves. As far as additive to the tank for lowering PH, adding tannins, and food for mostly shrimp, I have had better experiences with the bigger leaves. You get way more tannin from a bigger leaf than a bunch of little ones and for some reason the bigger leaves break down better and faster over time compared to the smaller. For example over a period of a month or two the small leaves showed little signs of breaking down, and my shrimp where not as interested in eating them. Maybe this has to do with something with the leaves being younger. Not the biggest deal but I just liked how the bigger leaves had more of a natural cycle in my tanks (put a in few pieces, get the leaf litter and tannins, and then eventually be eaten by my shrimp) where as the small needed more leaves to get the same level of litter and tannin and were ignored by shrimp and didn't seem to break down in the same way or at all really. ... show more

  • The leaves will turn RED once soaked in water! Great product!
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
I have a 10 gallon tank. It is well filtered and heated. I condition the water and add beneficial bacteria. I do water changes every two weeks and nearly a full change each month. I also have four different species of plants. I have a female betta and one female danio ( I had 3 danios, but the female betta killed them. She has lived peacefully with the third danio for weeks in account of the danio swims super fast, so the betta gave up. Also they are both happy and healthy.) Good, now that we have a little backstory, let me tell you my experience with these almond leaves. When I first received the package, the leaves were lovely in shape and were not too fragile. They held their form well. I put seven leaves in the tank. The package said 10 leaves for 12 gallons but I have a 10 gallon. Immediately my curious betta examined the leaves. She continues to attempt to eat the stem, possibly because it resembles her feeding tongs. My betta was glass surfing because a plant was dying in my tank and had gone unnoticed. I purchased these leaves to hopefully reduce the stress of the ammonia spike that had happened previously. Immediately after adding the leafs I see a change in attitude and she is playful and relaxed. My danio doesn't really care, but I know this meant a lot for my betta. At first, the leaves do not match the color of the leaves advertised. I wasn't very worried about what the color would be when they arrived, I was more worried about the fragility of them considering they're dried leaves coming in the mail. Like I said they arrived safely and have wonderful form. After 8 hours of them still floating at the top, I decided to flip them over. To which most of them sank within 30 seconds. The package label stated that I could use 20 to 30 leaves in a 12 gallon tank if a stronger color was desired. I was using these leaves for medicinal reasons. I had initially thought that adding too many leaves could be toxic. I will keep this in mind for the future. I took a final picture after 3 days of leaves in a ten gallon. I can see a light coloration in the water and the leaves now have a vibrant red-brown color. Great value for my money, and well worth the buy. I will be purchasing again in the future. It's unfortunate that so many people were not patient enough with the product. Many reviews that I saw on here were about how the leaves didn't match the color in the picture. Their loss! ... show more
