Features

  • Give a peaceful home to your betta --- When fish are given a homely ambiance, they tend to grow stronger. By creating ideal water conditions, we assure that they can prosper. The Indian Almond leaves are considered to have beneficial properties and increase fish appetite.
  • Have a breeding pet? Add catappa --- The tropical fishes create bubble nests using a floating leaf to anchor their bubbles. So, if your tank has a breeding tetra, guppy, platies, molly, cichlid or shrimps, just add these leaves and see them anchoring their eggs over IAL. That is a sight to behold.
  • Benefits other fish and snails too --- The tea water has many advantages for fishes like tetra, discus, and goldfish. It is good for rasboras and many dwarf cichlids too. Apart from that, snail owners can benefit from the magical leaves. Giving your fish this ambience calms them down. It imparts color to them and makes their scales firmer.
  • Smaller leaves, easier portion control --- Each packet contains 50 leaves measuring around 2-inches high which is a great value for money. Smaller Catappa leaves make for easier portion control and a good way to slowly introduce your pet to a new surrounding especially for smaller fishes in smaller tanks.
  • Adds beauty to nano tanks, small bowls and jars --- The Catappa leaves from SunGrow are unprocessed so you know what goes into your tank. They look pretty in a nano tank and add aesthetic beauty to your planted tank. You may even add these in individual betta jars or bowls.

  • Nice for hard water, don't fall apart like some others
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
These will give your water an amber tinge and will lower the water hardness, which is great for bettas and fish from the Amazon. I've tried a few different brands, and these are the first that didn't crumble and start to get moldy after a few days.

  • Great for our betta
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
This is great for our bettas. Helps keep the eater clean and bettas healthy. Easy to use as you just drop it in the water. No strong smell and natural.

  • Extremely dry and brittle, not as fresh as advertised
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
I've just received this product and my first impression: disappointment. Let me start off by saying that when I placed my order I wasn't expecting to receive "perfect" red leaves, as shown in the default image for this product listing. I did however have a few expectations. For one, these are leaves. There is no getting around that. There is natural variation and that is to be expected. However, I did think there would be a bit more consistency from leaf to leaf, as it's advertised that they are 2" long in the pictures. This is not really detrimental as there is a range of sizes, though it's worth noting that if you're buying this product based off the pictures you will be unhappy with what you receive. The product description is also inaccurate. At least twice it is stated that these leaves are fresh, "picked hours before shipment to ensure that it gets to you in the freshest form possible". Obviously that's impossible, but the leaves I received are extremely dry and brittle with a few pieces that have crumbled off during shipment. They have clearly been in this bag at the warehouse for a really long time. I was hoping for leaves that actually still had any of their natural oils, suppleness, and nutritional value for my pets.. these leaves are dead and useless. I also did not receive 50 leaves as stated on the packaging and listing. There were 43 in the bag. This is upsetting for obvious reasons. Lastly, one leaf has some kind of insect silk on it with tiny specks hanging in it (along with crumbled leaf pieces), which could either be debris or insect eggs. Needless to say this one will be discarded and brings me down one less leaf than what I paid for. With the quality of the product I received, I am not sure it is safe to put into my tank with my inverts. I can't say for certain that this is the standard quality of this item. However, based off my experience with it so far, I cannot recommend it. Update: After speaking to the company they apologized and kindly sent a replacement with the assurance that what I received was not typical for their product. I received the new bag within a few days and have finally had the chance to take a look at it. The difference in quality was not immediately noticeable from inspecting the sealed bag; the leaves still do not look like the photos. I opened the bag and smelled the contents, just as I did with the first batch, and it was immediately clear that this is a fresher product. I saw that another reviewer complained of an incense smell, however my leaves smelled like a fresh loose leaf tea. The smell is strong, but by no means offensive or anything to worry about, as tea is mostly made up of dried leaves just like these. So this smell is a positive (my first batch was nearly scentless). I then counted the leaves and found there to be well over 50 this time; it is clear that customer satisfaction is important to them and, while not expected, I do appreciate this gesture. I also noted that the leaves have some slight reddish color to them that the previous ones did not, and they feel much sturdier in general. While handling them I noticed that my fingers became slightly oily and there is a slight sheen to the leaves. As it's winter here, my hands are very dry, so this subtle detail was not lost on me. For me this is yet another indicator of the freshness of the product. I also did not encounter any signs of insects this time around. I've adjusted my rating (+2 stars) to reflect these changes. The very friendly customer service I received while interacting with this company has earned them my respect. While I can't give this a full 5 stars because it's still dryer than what I was looking for, I think it's a decent product as long as you're aware of exactly what you're buying. **Please note: I have not updated with photos of the replacement leaves I received** ... show more

  • Learn how to use them
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
I will leave set incredible for your fish. You are not supposed to throw them away. They start at the top eventually sink and will degrade and become part of the good bacteria of your tank. They will not give you a tanning as dark as a piece of wood, but they will make your tank is slightly brown. Definitely worth a little color for your fish health. ... show more

  • Kind of small, but no probs
Pattern Name: 100 leaves
It’s as advertised, but keep in mind these are smaller sized leaves.

  • Not sure
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
The media could not be loaded. It doesn’t seem like any tannins are being released as the water is the normal color. It states 1 leaf per gallon so I put 6 leaves in my 3 gallon tank and do not notice a difference. The leaves look fuzzy, slimy & with some black discoloration. This is my first time trying so I’m not sure if thats normal. My betta has fin rot and I have seen no improvements. ... show more

  • They are leaves...
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
They arrived on time, and about the size promised. It's nice that they are packaged in two sections so you only have to open one at a time. They are small, which is exactly what they said they were, and exactly what I wanted. If you are looking for those giant leaves you see on youtube? That's not these. I put a picture with a ruler so you can judge for yourself. ... show more

  • Happy betta 🥰🐠
Pattern Name: 50 Leaves
After reading a few blogs and reviews about the health advantages of catappa leaves for betta fishes, I decided to give it a try. I intentionally chose these smaller leaves since the tank is only 2 gallons and I didn’t want to clogged it up with larger leaves. I placed 2 leaves in the tank and my betta went to check them out immediately. It has been about a week and I am noticing that the little guy spends much of his time in the proximity of the leaves, he seems more relaxed and starting to blow lots of air bubbles. Very happy to see how well he is responding. I will purchase this item again 👍 So, it has been 2 weeks since I used these couple of cattapa leaves and they do tint the water slightly yellow. Visually, the tank doesn’t look as attractive but I think I’ll leave them as long the betta enjoys them. ... show more
