Description

Drip acclimation is a commonly used method for acclimating a wide range of marine critters to a new environment. The duration and drip rate required for acclimation can vary depending on the species of animal and the difference in water parameters between the old and new environment. Here are some general guidelines for drip acclimation for different marine critters: Fish Drip acclimation for fish usually takes around 30 minutes to an hour. The drip rate should be adjusted so that it is not too fast, as this can stress the fish. During the acclimation process, the water temperature should be monitored closely, as sudden changes in temperature can be harmful to fish. Invertebrates Invertebrates such as shrimp, crabs, and snails should be drip acclimated for at least an hour or longer, depending on the species. The drip rate should be slower than for fish, usually around 1-2 drops per second. Invertebrates are sensitive to changes in water chemistry, so the water parameters should be monitored closely during the acclimation process. Corals Drip acclimation for corals can take several hours, or even up to a day in some cases. The drip rate should be very slow, usually around 1 drop per second or less. Corals are very sensitive to changes in water chemistry, so it is important to monitor the water parameters closely during the acclimation process. Anemones Anemones should be drip acclimated for at least 2-3 hours, or longer if possible. The drip rate should be slow, usually around 1 drop per second or less. Anemones are sensitive to changes in water chemistry and temperature, so these should be monitored closely during the acclimation process.

  • Works great!
Good length. Easy to use primer bulb! Comes with a pre filter foam for the intake. Is fully adjustable for a safe and successful drip acclimating! Would recommend this quality product for value and effectiveness.

  • Who knew that something so simple could be such a time saver
Even though this product is super simple and inexpensive, it works exactly as expected and saves a lot of time. I don't have to worry about sucking on the tube and getting salt water in my mouth because the primer bulb automatically starts the flow of water. I also like that you can control how fast the water drips so that you can slowly acclimate your fish. Getting the acclimation process started is so much quicker with this product. I highly recommend getting it. ... show more

  • The dripper works, that's what matters
The little pump bubble thing is not easy to get water flowing, especially with the foam filter on the end. I took off the foam and rubber-banded some fabric on the end instead, and with difficulty I can get the water flowing. You can still just suck on it of course. The dripper works great though, and that's what matters. ... show more

  • Very effective
This has got to be the best method for acclimating fish. Ever since I started using it my fishes definitely show less stress when being acclimated!

  • Worked like a charm
This is not my first stint with drip acclimation. I actually made one for my saltwater nano tank, but didn’t want to cross use with my nano freshwater so I bought this one. I recently purchased some shrimp (also purchased via a store on Amazon) and they’re a little more intolerant to water parameter changes than fish. Since I wanted my new shrimp to have the best chance to survive the new environment I utilized this at a super slow drip for over an hour. Happy to report that, thus far, I have not lost any of the new tiny critters and they’re eating/foraging well. Nothing fancy to this set up, but easy to use and does the job. Would recommend, especially at this price. ... show more

  • Not the best but a good value
It does the trick. Very limited on controlling the flow. But for this price can’t beat it.

  • Hand pump would not work however...
The small hand pump on it is a bit too flimsy, but you can still make it work as long as you are careful to not suck too much that you get tank water in your mouth haha. Got it to work with a little help that way and worked fantastic after initially getting it going.
