  • this is a fantastic kit that will jump start up your learning
Color: SensorV2.0
I was pleasantly surprised by how helpful the reading material that was included in this pack was. If you are new to RPi GPIO, this is a fantastic kit that will jump start up your learning. I have tried about a half dozen of these modules so far, and my only complaint is that the IR remote module does not seem to be working by following the instructions. Slightly frustrating as this was the main module I was interested in, and now I will have to look up what is wrong with the configuration. After leaving this review, someone from SunFounder was kind enough to e-mail me to make sure I got around my issue. Very great support. ... show more

  • Great Learning Tool
Color: SensorV2.0
I have had this for a couple days now and I have really enjoyed each of the modules. The documentation for the tutorials is really well done on the Sunfounder website and from what I can see on the internet, it looks like this material has been improving over the years. There are a few spelling errors here and there and the pictures are sometimes out of date, but nothing that I think would detract someone from buying this product. ... show more

  • Wounderful Kit - Enjoy; Learn; Have fun. Excellent company!
Color: SensorV2.0
First I would like to extend my thank you's to sunfounder. Why.. I asked if they had a link to download a manual, since I misplaced mine in moving. They did MUCH BETTER! They sent out a new one. Complete Colorful original manual!!. Now that is extending a customer service. You think :). Okay. Pros: All modules arrived in kit. It arrived well packaged and complete. The modules are very well made. Labeled on each piece. Cleanly marked. Wires and breadboard are excellent. The booklet included; is a step by step guide to each modules use. [ There are many uses- per module ] they are just a phew. BUT good examples. Take your time, enjoy the fruits of their labor in a well written and good example booklet. In COLOR too. All parts are individually sealed in protective anti static bags. Static electricity is a bummer. Be careful. The Box in which the plastic container houses all components is also well designed and shows off the contents well. Cons: Ya know - Really can not see any at this point. So - to sum things up. If you want to learn, experiment; generally become more knowledgeable and excited about possibilities - Buy the kit! Enjoy - don't get frustrated; good things take time. Hey it's all fun. ... show more

  • Not working at all
Color: SensorV2.0
This product was dead on arrival. I followed all instructions and it doesn't get connected to the raspberry pi. I emailed the support but no response.

  • Decent overall quality and reasonable documentation, only 1 mistake
Color: SensorV2.0
I have to say I like this kit, it comes with everything one would need to get started with basic programming and learning how sensors can communicate with an SBC or microcontroller. The only thing to pay attention to is the IDE cable provided in the kit and it's orientation when plugged in. As you can tell from the picture, the cable only goes in one way into the T-cobbler and if you connect it to your Raspberry Pi with the alignment notch towards the outside it will flip the GPIO pinout 180 degrees ( physical pin1 will become physical pin40). In the little booklet they provide, the pictures show the WRONG way of connecting the IDE cable to the T-cobbler. From reading older reviews/comments I found this to be an old issue dating back to 2015, issue which HAS NOT been corrected as of October 2018. Make sure the middle alignment on the SBC GPIO side is pointing towards the BCM of the SBC. You might need to flip the IDE cable for that. Other than that this is a nice kit, but I haven't gotten to testing all the modules it comes with. I will report back if I find anything not working. I would also suggest supplementing this with an ELEGOO Upgraded Electronics Fun Kit w/Power Supply Module to get more versatility. It's the cheapest option I found for the stuff it comes with. ... show more

Color: SensorV2.0
Giving this 5 because, well, I love it! I used 4 or 5 of the sensors at once on my Pi...and although the code was a little hard to find at first (there is no CD included) I found the best way was to google for the FILENAME referenced in the booklet. The booklet itself does a nice job of describing each sensor, how they are hooked up, and what the code does. All of what is in the booklet is also on sunfounders website. ... show more

  • Excellent (if you get everything)
Color: SensorV2.0
On any other day, I would have given this 5-stars - hands down. It's a great package. With actually usable documentation, and a great start for beginners, or even intermediates in the Pi world. Great document included, it's almost plug and play, but for beginners can be a little confusing or difficult to get off the mark. Don't rely on the setup guidance in the guide you get with this, you'll need to head over to Sunfounder and download the source code seperately (just lookup what you bought and download the associated "download" - which includes code, diagrams etc. Of all the players in this space, SunFounder are doing the best job in my opinion, delivering a really great first experience. Where they failed me and lose two stars, is that a core component was missing in my batch. The PCF8591 (it's a standard ADAC - analog to digital converter) not anywhere to be found. I've had to order this separately to complete my package (extra $12), it's just not worth the effort of sending it all back - I'm not currently in the US. The first thing you need to do when you receive this item is inventory! When you get it, open every little plastic packet and inventory all the items. Make sure its all there. ALL of it. The part I'm missing kills half of the examples! A friend of mine that ordered the same kit, was missing the same part as well... so don't know if there was an issue at the time of production, but check what you get! Aside from following the instructions for "wiringPI", the document refers to examples and "gcc this.that.or.the.other", this refers to content you need to download separately from the SunFounder website. ... show more
