I don't know how I ever got along without an electric blanket before! My bed is heavenly! The blanket is well made. You cannot feel the wires and the blanket is soft and lightweight. One of my favorite features is the PREHEAT. It's so good! Just set how high you'd like the temperature to be when you climb into bed, then hit Preheat. Voila'! By the time you've brushed your teeth and said your prayers; you're tucking yourself into a deliciously warm bed. NOTE: Alot of people complain that the blankets give out or don't work. I had a problem at the beginning, getting my blanket to heat up because there is a LOW and HIGH feature. They don't heat up the blanket. But, temperatures 2-10 work really well! We recently switched to a king bed and needed a new e-blanket. After a little online searching we got pointed to this Sunbeam blanket. It has been great and keeps us comfortable on chilly winter nights. My side is toasty, and my wife has excellent control on her side to find the right temperature. Preheating before coming to bed work well. One little challenge is the new blanket sheds little fuzzies that stick to the sheets. Overall, so far I'm quite pleased with this blanket. It heats evenly, and its texture is really soft and silky. Some other reviews complained that it's TOO silky, so much so that it slides off the bed. With that in mind, I use it on top of a light-weight cotton thermal blanket, whose open-weave texture seems to be sufficient to hold the electric blanket in place. The temperature range works for me. The "low" setting is not as warm as the "high" setting. I like the large on/off button that is encircled with a thin ring that lights up when the unit is on; it's easy to turn the blanket on and off when groping in the dark. The temperature control dial itself is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The control dial looks like an inverted shallow bowl with ridges for gripping provided around the side. Unfortunately, it's too shallow and the ridges are rounded-off too much to get a good grip, and so turning it up or down takes more effort than it needs to. Once again, usability is sacrificed for someone's "design" concept. ... show more

Yes, it is soft, lightweight, and has improved heating control...but those features don't do you a lick of good when it is so slick that your comforter slips off during the night. Seriously, there is not a night that goes by that I don't wake to being cold because the comforter is halfway off of the bed.     • Great blanket with a tragic flaw--slides badly--especially on larger beds

This blanket has many positives--it requires only one plug even for the dual controller king and queen models, length of the plug to the wall is adequate although one of the controllers didn't quite reach the nightstand (it probably would if the plug were right behind the bed, in the middle; ours are by the nightstands). The heat works well, although the controller isn't backlit, so I kind of memorized which way to turn the dial to get more and less heat--no big deal. There is an on/off switch, and it's easy to see and find. Other good things are that the blanket has a safeguard on the plug's connection to the blanket so that it will not pull out--it's extremely annoying to have a blanket or heating pad that does this. Also, as Wirecutter points out, Sunbeam has a good safety record (they recommend another model with zoned heat that is no longer sold, apparently). But the blanket is so very slippery that it slides up during the night, while the comforter over it slides right off. Note: the blanket is too thin to use alone; while warm, of course, it's just not cozy enough. It slides around our necks and almost off our feet, so that I have to keep my legs bent to feel the warmth. But this would all be tolerable without the chaos that the sliding of the blanket and comforter cause when I have to make the (king-sized) bed in the morning. I have to remove the comforter, pull the blanket down (and it bunches up terribly along the wires, making me fear that I'll break it), readjust the sheets, which have also moved, and then put the (large, heavy) comforter back on the bed. With a king, this is just too hard to do every day. The blanket would work better in a smaller size, like a twin, where it is no big deal to readjust the sheets/blanket/bedspread every day. But it creates such a mess on our king that after a couple of months of struggle with making the bed daily, I've relegated it to the basement, possibly for guests on the queen bed. I bought another one that has sherpa on one side which does help, but it has that darn slippery fabric on the other--we'll see about the new one. It may go back. Or I may try a heated mattress pad... Anyone know of an electric blanket that uses a better weave on its fabric? That slippery "velvet plush" or whatever they call it is unwieldy and your bed in the morning will require considerable effort to remake! ... show more
