I tried a few "blackout" curtains but these ones actually work! I live in an apartment and the lights at night shine right in my bedroom. These curtains completely block them out at night so my room is actually dark at night. Yay! True, the material is kinda crappy...shower curtain-like plastic and wrinkly. These are blackout curtains, people, not draperies! I expect the wrinkles to come out with gravity and/or washing, and you can't tell what the fabric feels like by looking at them. I don't exactly fondle my curtains so who cares? And I have yet to find other blackout curtains in this price range with a better material. I plan to get some sheer curtains to add more beauty and aesthetic. The fact that they are lightweight is a bonus for me: I want the wind to get in at night during the summer. These do their job well. I work overnights so have my room blacked out. The curtains do block out 100% of the light and also it helps reduce the noise from nearby traffic that would enter through the window. Light will still escape from the top so a little creativity can allow you to achieve a full black out room. ... show more

Looks like a shower curtain, the cheap ones that I would never hang in my home. I’m sad I will return I bought for sound reduction and could not notice a difference. Thin plastic like fabric, just plain awful.

My son’s favorite color is gold, so I’m always happy to find more gold things. I probably should have paid more attention to the length, because 96” is your standard wall height, and these are a foot longer than that. The good news is that I have a sewing machine and know how to use it should I decide to put these curtains into regular use. They absolutely block out light. I included a picture with the curtains closed and a picture of them open on a brightly lit day. The difference is staggering. Of note, the backside of the curtains is white, so those outside the home would see white when looking in the window. I cannot say that I consider these gold in color. My son was also iffy. They tend to look more brown or bronze in most lights, and if you look at the weave closely, you’ll see that it’s more like brown and cream mixed together than a solid gold color, and I can’t say I personally like how it looks close-up. I love these. They are good quality heavy curtains that, despite being white, effectively block the sun to keep my house cooler during the hot, humid summer months. They are sturdy and also very pretty - they make my living room look larger because of course light colors make surroundings look more expansive. I prefer this brand to any other because though they do wrinkle slightly, with time the heaviness of the fabric causes many wrinkles to disappear and aren't noticeable on first glance. I have very high ceilings, and the elongated vertical length of the curtains also makes the room seem larger. They extend to the floor but do not drag on the floor itself - there is about 1 inch left at the bottom. (I used to have light muslin curtains that did drag on the floor in a kind of "romantic sweep," but they were off-white and the dirt showed.) ... show more
