This thing is insanely lightweight. My wife calls it a stroller lawnmower. Since it collects on the back it’s easy to get into and out of small spaces. They are sold out everywhere but if you can find a side grass chute instead of the bag it’s also nice. Battery lasts for my roughly 3/4 acre. Really the only issue I have with it is that it is so lightweight that I’ll forget sometimes not to lean into it too much or the front end lifts up. So happy not to have to deal with gas/oil, and engine problems… having to take a carburetor apart. Having a bulky loud smoke spewing monstrosity is no more!!! UPDATE 02/27/24: I was looking at my old reviews and wanted to give this review an update after having it for years. First off, I still have it and still use it as my main lawnmower and still love it. Secondly, a few things do need to be addressed. This comes with no side chute to spew the clippings, just a bag on the back which is TERRIBLE unless you have a yard the size of a bedroom. Almost every row I did it would fill up and need to be taken off to be dumped. When I got this a few years ago it took me about a month to find a side chute to order from Home Depot for $20, but dear god was it worth it! They might have them on Amazon now but they didn’t back then. Since putting it on I’ve never gone back to the tiny collection bag. Another somewhat issue which I’m not docking any stars for since I assumed this before even purchasing it from it being a small electric mower is it does not do great in thick spots. Too thick it cuts off, but usually it will just suddenly kick into high gear sounding like it’s about to take off into the sky. When I go into this denser area in my yard that is maybe 8ftx15ft and it goes into this high gear mode spinning at least twice as fast I just quickly go through this spot and it cuts it fast and clean. I don’t know if there are long term problems to staying in this mode but as soon as I’m done with that area I let off the handle and just restart it so it’s back to normal mode and to this day still do this and it works great. I have learned, however, that this high gear mode drains the battery hard! Save it for hard spots and do it fast. Being somewhat weak it also does fine going over little twigs but anything bigger than that will trigger high gear mode. This mower is perfect for me but take all of this into consideration before buying. One thing I really do wish for this mower was for it to be a few inches wider as it is very narrow. UPDATE: I’ve been using the mower for almost three months with no major issues. Battery holds the charge and I’m able to mow my lawn three full times before needing to recharge. It takes over four hours to fully charge up the battery. Again, the biggest quirk is you have to charge the whole mower. I don’t have an outdoor electrical socket so it’s been a bit of a pain. Something I also noticed is that the mower sometimes changes height settings by itself. I don’t know if it’s my yard incline or changes in thickness of grass(shade/sun) but it’s happened a few times. One side would be on a higher/lower setting than the other. Just something to keep in mind. Original review: I've used this mower twice so far and wish I bought it sooner. As a petite woman you couldn't get a mower lighter than this, you can lift it with one hand. It's like pushing a lightweight stroller. Even up a hill! Assembly was easy. I decided to use the side chute as opposed to the bag. I have a 6000sf property and still have a full charge after I finished mowing. The main quirk is that the whole mower has to be charged, there is no removable battery. There are strict instructions with how long you charge it for. I believe it's four hours. Either way this is much better than the reel mower I've been using. If it fails this summer, I will update! ... show more

UPDATED REVIEW 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE: It’s items like this that make me wish that Amazon would reconsider their return period (especially for larger products). I contacted Sun Joe’s customer service, and they played the “blame game”. Rather than waste me time, I’ll be buying another mower from another brand. See why below.... Well, the battery still takes four hours to charge, but now the battery LIFE is down to 12-15 minutes per use. I’ve given up using the bag all-together because stopping every 50 ft. to empty it was time consuming. Tried the side discharge, and that was even worse. It just gets clogged consistently. So now (when I do use it) I end up covered in grass clippings and stopping every other minute to open them back flap to clear out jammed up grass. I was hoping to prove to my neighbors that a battery powered mower would hold its own without impacting the environment too much, but this mower isn’t the answer. If your yard is less than 200 square feet, you might be able to make this work, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Tough little mower. I let my lawn get out of control, so it took a few battery charges to complete. This mower did well considering. I am submitting my review now after mowing several times at normal lawn heights. Pros- Cordless =Freedom Great for the environment Powers through thick lawns Let’s you know when it’s overworked Easy to assemble, adjust height and empty bag Battery lasts 40-50 minutes (enough for small to moderate yard) Cons- Clipping bag needs to be emptied frequently Only three height settings (and sometimes they’ll snap back to another height partially and the mower is off kilter) Lowest height setting makes maneuverability more difficult Despite some of my “cons” the mower is appropriate for my size of yard. I wish there was an option for a bigger clippings bag. I have to empty it after two “rows”. I’d recommend this highly if your land measures 1/5-1/4 acre or less. ... show more
