This light is made just like the big box store light with the round top that I bought. I will say this one is a lot brighter than the other, due to the large clear glass. I also like that I can easily unscrew a bolt on the side near the base and fold it down when I put my cover on the boat. Also, you can adjust the angle of the light to the angle you need and lock it in place. Like most lights, the base and light base is plastic. The clear part is also plastic textured to send to light in all directions. There is a small soft plastic seal to keep out the water that I am not sure will work so I will be adding a little sealant. It has 3M adhesive for the base to seal it against the boat itself. Also came with 4 - 2 1/2" mounting screws. The wires are longer, and have heat shrink to keep them together which is nice. With the added distance I can see, and ability to lay it flat for the price it's great. ... show more

This was easy to install on our metal pontoon roof. I used shorter screws instead of the ones that came with it because my roof isn't that thick. Being able to fold it down is a plus.

This light actually comes with 2 different ways to install it- either by the adhesive bottom, or by the regular mounting screws. My husband was able to use or previous light mount, so I'm unsure how well the adhesive part works. This light is quite a bit brighter than our previous light and definitely a lot handier. Our previous one was stationary, but this one can actually adjust forward or backwards a considerable amount. I'm not a big fan of the plastic covering, because I've seen how plastic can get that cloudy appearance over time which prevents as much light from escaping. However, I guess time will only tell. For now, it's clear and bright. The wiring was adequate length and has an extra layer of protection. It connects like your basic battery wiring- black to negative, red to positive. Simple and easy. The light itself is LED so that it gives amble illumination without drawing a lot of juice. The light and wiring are waterproof, and the stainless steel is rust resistant. I used this to replace a longer, stowable anchor light on my small bass boat in order to free up the storage space used by the current light. It gave me a much better place to keep a boat hook.
