  • Loved it! A monster bass for a beginner and great for anyone else.
This is just a really good deal. I'm not going to blather on. I never review anything for the most part. If you are an experienced bass player and you pick this up, you'll be blown away for what it is for $400. As a lefty it's one of the best things out there at a price like this. I bought it to switch out the neck on a regular lefty Stingray that's a fretless and I wanted to try the fancy Stingray with frets without coughing up another $2500 so I got this. But, it plays and sounds good as it is so I'll play it like this for a while. NOTE: The neck dimensions on the Sterling Stingray are not the same as the regular Stingray. The sterling is smaller in every dimension except scale length which is the common 34". The the radius is 10.5" which is pretty flat compared old Fenders. The neck is very narrow at the top. It's 1.47" which is the same or smaller than any Fender Jazz bass I measured. Still, it plays very well. Just a little info for my fellow lefty bass players out there. We're a small force so we need to look out for each other. :) ... show more

  • Easy to play with quality sound
After initial setup ( neck adjustment and tuning) I was amazed at the ease this bass played with. The action is so low you barely have to touch these to get sound from them. This is a good bass guitar for anyone from beginners to headliners. With the active preamp adjusting the tone is a breeze from the bass and treble knobs on the guitar so you don't have to do it on the amp (for beginners without effect pedals) ... show more
