I chose this well-made set as a gift for my granddaughter and grandson, ages 9 and 11. While they currently construct items using prepared plans with casually attached blocks, I want to expose them to basic scientific principles. This high-quality set of four construction-themed wooden experimental models comes in a giftable, decorated box. Complete instructions are provided in English and include details on the steps to twist the battery box wires around the tiny eyelets on the electric motors. This step is not required on the solar truck, which has high quality miniature connectors. Each experiment is packed in a separate plastic Ziplock bag containing instructions and parts. One high quality screwdriver is provided. All models feature interlocking pieces of firmly connected 6mm high-quality plywood. Smooth construction pieces feature very precise laser cutting. Models are described as: a dry cell powered highway roller, a solar powered 4-wheel truck, an air pressure operated loader and a dry cell powered crane. Each model demonstrates different scientific principles and measures approximately 8" x 6" x 2 ". So often I order Stem items only to be very disappointed with the lack of educational learning and quality. I could not be more pleased with this order and it completely exceeds my expectations and for under twenty bucks I consider this a find. I have young nephews and I ordered this for my eleven year old nephew who is very into engineering. My sister in law bought my son an electronics kit when he was young and it inspired him so much he ended up becoming an electrical engineer. I hope this does the same for my nephew. There are four build it kits and they don't look very easy so not for a super young kid. I like how they combine different learning opportunities into these projects challenging the kids and leaving them with great satisfaction and pride on their getting these put together and operational. The media could not be loaded. This STEM wood building kit came in a nice box and each different mini-kit was individually packaged with their own instructions. This makes it very organized and easy to pick one mini-kit per play session. Very nice! The instructions themselves are great and go step-by-step. The only mismatched image I saw in the roller build was the metal poking out of the battery pack being on the opposite side in one image (looks correct in all other images). Super minor and inconsequential. The laser engraved wood was pretty easy to remove from the plywood sheets, but some pieces required a bit of finagling to remove. At only ~$11 post coupon, the quality of the cuts and fit tolerance of the pieces surpassed my expectations. Once screws were installed, even the more fragile areas became pretty sturdy. Very cool use of hardware to spread the wood for a tight fit. Once batteries were inserted, the roller started right up and actually had a bit of speed to it! Best of all, because the hardware can be removed, disassembly only takes moments so the kids can take turns building the same mini-kit. Love it! Overall, getting 4 mini-kits at this price is incredible, especially when each build has its own little STEM related quirk (motor, hydraulics, solar, etc.).     • Fun set for kids
Got another stem building set for my kids. These sets are great for kids to keep them entertained but also to concentrate on detail. The directions are pretty straight forward. My kids are 8 and 9 and can do them on their own for 95% of the time.

This is a great kit for building various construction equipment that also includes the mechanical side of things. Showing how to wire up the engine, adding and using hydraulics and using a solar panel are all cool things for a kid to figure out. Got this for a 10 year old and was perfect. He put the solar powered car together in about two hrs. I helped him twice just needed help putting gear on motor,he was afraid to push it in hard so didn’t really need my help but it’s a great project and he was proud of his accomplishment. And it’s solar when we brought it in the sun it works,pretty impressive everything went together good. Snaps in and instructions were kinda perfect to follow paying attention to detailed pictures product is great but this teaches them to think and follow instructions which is a lifetime lesson that’s invaluable ... show more

Got this for a little boy that will probably be an engineer when he grows up. Haven’t put it together yet but looks well put together, comes with mother boards, screwdriver and tires to make everything come to life. All the different models are in their own bag so you don’t get the pieces mixed up. You have to take the pieces from the wooden sheet of parts and assemble them. Reminds me of the wooden planes of years ago, only these have a new electronic spin on them. Made in China. ... show more
