Features

  • Prevents over-tightening - over-tightening can lead to premature failure of wheels, wheel studs, and rotors
  • Flexes to limit torque - when 100 ft-lb of torque is reached the extension will flex to absorb impact and stop tightening
  • 1/2-inch drive - both male and female ends are 1/2-inch drive for use with heavy-duty impact wrenches and sockets
  • Calibration free - predetermined maximum allowed torque, no moving parts, maintenance and recalibration free

  • Good quality, tested to be relatively accurate.
Size: 80 Ft-Lb Torque
Bought this because I do a decent amount of car work. It's the appropriate torque for my lugnuts. Previously I have been using a torque wrench, but at the end of a project it's a pain to screw the lugnuts on, tighten them, drop the car a little (for front wheels), then torque them. It's not hard, but by that time I'm always ready to just put an end to whatever project I'm on. I was hesistant to get a torque limiting bar because I've heard they are innacurate. I've had to replace wheel studs before from accidental overtightening (I didn't break it!) and while it's not hard, it's not fun. Reviews on Amazon were favorable for this, though, so I decided to try it out. I will agree with other reviewers that this bar works well, and I can confirm (with torque wrench) that it's relatively accurate. I'm confident enough with it, at this point, to use it without rechecking torque anymore. ... show more

  • Works good
Size: 65 Ft-Lb Torque
I like because I torque the wheels to 65ftlbs and then go around with my torque wrench and torque it to the actual spec and I can put any size socket on it.

  • How Does This Work?
Size: 5-piece Set
It makes no sense that a solid piece of metal like this can tighten to a specific torque value, right? These sticks work because of the nature of an impact wrench: As the resistance increases, your impact wrench applies force in taps. It doesn't apply continuous torque to the fastener, but instead it's a series of tapping motions. A torque stick will twist a certain amount. Once the fastener is tightened a certain amount, the torque stick will twist with each tap, absorbing any rotation which would otherwise twist the socket. It is important when using these to use directly on a socket, and it should be as short a socket as possible. Don't use it with a universal joint or other extension attached. Make sure the torque stick is fully inserted into the socket and that the impact wrench is fully inserted into the torque stick. One way to make sure it's working properly is to tighten a fastener, such as a lug nut, and watch what happens when the nut is tightened: You should be able to keep applying the impact wrench, but the socket will not turn. Now, as far as the product itself: Very impressive quality. Very solid build, each stick is color-coded and the torque value is well labeled. The case is excellent quality. Overall, excellent product which I recommend. ... show more

  • Always use a torque wrench
Size: 80 Ft-Lb Torque
Product works alright. Sometimes it leaves nuts loose, so you shouldn’t put ALL of your trust is a length of spring steel. ALWAYS use a torque wrench.
