Totally mangled a brass nipple which did not budge with a pipe wrench and a crescent locking wrench. Read other hints online and used this with a house clamp to keep nipple from expanding and heated with a hair dryer for 7-10 minutes. Also used 2 wrenches on opposite sides so could use both hands with increased even pressure. Worked like a charm with much less effort. Wish I had this to start with. ... show more

I broke my shower. The thread was stuck in it. We bought nipple extracter and didn't work. We gave it a try and it worked perfect. It saved us a lot of work!

I had broken a shower arm at the threads and needed to get the threaded part out of the wall. I had tried the cam type internal pipe wrench, but there wasn't enough of a pipe length for it to be properly inserted. I tried a cheaper tool like this one that had reverse threads to grab the inside of the pipe. Unfortunately that one was designed for standard wall thickness pipe and didn't reach the inside diameter of the shower arm pipe. This one was advertised as being good for shower arms and in just a few minutes I had the broken off piece out and the replacement pipe in place. Functionally I would have given this 5 stars, but my complaint is that it seems pretty expensive for a pretty basic tool. The cheaper one would have worked if it was just the right size. I probably could have found a cheaper version, but I was tired of experimenting and this one was advertised as being for shower arms. My other disappointment was that the item was obviously returned being in a blister pack that was poorly taped shut. I'm sure they bought the item, used it successfully, and then returned it as "unwanted" or "defective", it happens all the time at hardware stores. Shame on them, but I also don't think that it should be sold to others as being new, especially when there is a price for the same item in used condition. I was fortunate that they didn't damage this one before returning it, so it did work. I'm also keeping it because you never know when myself or someone I know has the same problem. However, I think that Amazon should have sent me a new one since that is what I paid for. Had I wanted to take a chance with a used one, I would have selected that option. ... show more
