  • Great for airbrushing in the home.
I began airbrushing early this year, starting with a beginner kit that had a 12-volt tankless compressor. I quickly replaced it when I realized it was pulsing air through the airbrush. I next bought a Master brand compressor with a 1-liter tank. For low pressure painting with acrylic paints, it worked fine. But as I transitioned to trying enamel paints and varnishes, which need higher air pressures, the little Master compressor couldn't keep up with me. After a lot of research, I decided to get this Stealth compressor. So far, I'm pleased. This compressor is only ever so slightly louder than the Master, which is whisper quiet, yet doesn't struggle to keep its tank filled as I use my airbrush with specific mediums. For those wanting numbers, here we go: As I rattle off these pressure ratings, I am referring to the pressure at the airbrush, not the tank pressure. For properly thinned acrylic paints I run about 15-30 PSI but stick to around 20 PSI. My little Master compressor can keep up here, unless I start pushing the 30 PSI mark. With regards to enamel paints, I only airbrush Testors brand paint that has been thinned with Testors brand thinner. Even thinned, I've found that pressures of 30-45 PSI work best here. The Master compressor fails to keep up and runs non-stop. After a few minutes of airbrushing, I have to stop for a minute to let the compressor get enough air to get me that higher pressure at the airbrush. For varnishes, I'm using Vallejo matte airbrush varnish, and U.S. Art Supply Gloss Topcoat. My General Art Supply thinner doesn't work with either of these sealants, so I have to spray them straight from the bottle. I need pressures at around 40-50 PSI here and the Master compressor flat out can't maintain this kind of pressure for more than a few seconds. This Stealth compressor handles all of these scenarios with ease, only starting and running for a few seconds every few minutes to keep its tank topped off. I get no air pulsing, and thanks to its easily accessible drain valve at the tank, I don't get moisture in my airline (I do have a water trap installed though). As mentioned, this Stealth compressor is only a decibel or two louder than the Master compressor, which is whisper-quiet, so running this compressor in my basement bedroom "studio" is no issue at all, even later in the evenings when the household upstairs is winding down for the night. My only two gripes are very minor and mostly caused by my situation, not by any fault of this compressor. The first is that, by comparison to the little Master compressor, this Stealth isn't nearly as portable. I keep the compressor under a side table next to my art desk. When I used the Master compressor and needed to adjust the output pressure, I could reach under the table, pull the compressor to myself, and make the adjustment. That's not possible with this compressor since the room is carpeted and the desk has a thick mat under it in the possible event of spills. So, when I need to adjust the pressure on this Stealth, I have to crawl under my art desk to access the adjustment knob. Again, not any fault of this compressor, so I don't hold this against it. But for someone in a situation like mine, this is noteworthy. The second is the work I had to do to rig up my airbrush kit to this compressor. Once more, no fault of this compressor as it's intended to be used with common pneumatic equipment, not airbrushes. This compressor comes with a female 1/4" quick disconnect preinstalled. I didn't want to modify this compressor by removing that, so after a lot of research with only guessed answers, I wound up with a male 1/4" quick disconnect fitting that has male 1/4" NPT threads. To this fitting, I connected (with teflon tape) an adapter that at one end, has female 1/4" NPT threads, and 1/8" BSP(T) male threads at the other end. This allowed me to connect my water trap and airbrush line to this compressor. This setup does slowly leak, about 8 PSI an hour, but for the way I use my airbrushes, this is negligible. Overall, I'm very pleased with this compressor and it's performance. I fervently hope it turns out to be a sturdy, reliable unit for many years to come. ... show more

  • Well designed with good quality assembly.
Everything was great except can't disassemble intake filter to clean or replace element as stated in owners book. Will try and call or email seller to see if can buy the whole assembly. Minus 1 star.

  • Should never have to buy another compressor
I ordered this compressor based on good reviews and the fact I was getting tired of running hose from my stand up compressor to the house. First viewing, very impressed with engineering and competence of build, shipping department should take notes. UPS guy hung out while I opened box to examine product because box looked like it sat in water. I was hesitant to say OK but all looked intact and clean. Broke in unit as instructed (really quiet) Works fine, a new coiled hose seems to have issues with restricted flow, have a set of high flow on order. Absolutely no regrets. ... show more

  • Great quiet compressor
I had a California air before I got this one and I loved it it lasted me almost 3 years running framing and siding guns off of it even though it said not to I did and it was great. This one is even better quality then my California air I was just using it yesterday to install baseboard with a bostich finish gun couldn’t even hear it running. I have been in construction for 37 years my dad was a carpenter & my uncle great grandpa. So been it’s just in my blood building. If you are looking for a compact quite and reliable compressor look no further my friend 👍🏻👍🏻 I give her 2 thumbs up. ... show more

  • Amazingly quiet and powerful for its size
Thisbis gonna sound silly, but i got this to crush cans. It sits on one side of an uninsulated wall and an air powered can crusher sits on the other. When it kicks on, i feel it, but i barely hear it. Its pretty phenomenal.

  • Amazing product! Quick refill and all
I was amazed that the delivery was so fast I got this one within 2 days after I've decided to buy. I have to say, this is a fantastic air compressor. It’s so quiet when working, I literally wasn’t sure if it was working or not when I first turned it on. You could have a whisper conversation while it is running right next to your feet. I suppose to do night working duty is available without waking anyone else in the house. it works great to fill car, Bicycle tires basketballs pool floats I have even used it with my finish nailer. Surprising thing is how fast it refills. since I just started using this compressor so I have no idea about the longevity of the product. But, given the build quality, I have no doubt this compressor will be with me for a long time. overall I'm beyond thrilled and happy with it. ... show more

Used twice… so far so good, general shop use.

  • quiet and works good
I wanted one that's quiet and as powerful as possible without drawing a big current. So the price was right and no leaks. It weighs over 40 lbs- not easy to throw around- so maybe paying a little more for one with aluminium tank -would have been better.
