These knives are holding up so far. Have been through the dishwasher several times and look brand new. They are as described. I like them much better than my old steak knives and I like that they are black. I think they are fairly priced, and you get the most bang for your buck!

    • Great for plastic handled steak knives

When our old crappy plastic handled steak knives, which we've used forever, started falling apart, handles breaking, exposing rivits, blades bending and detaching, my husband asked me to find new steak knives. I wanted decent, probably wood handled, knives that could be sharpened, but that was nixed by my husband who wanted serrated edges and plastic handle (I went with his request as he is the major user of steak knives, I'm not). These handles are a solid piece, have a hefty weight without being too heavy, and flowing shape that fits our hands. For us, the shape of the handle and blade just "flows," not too long and not too short. They cut through meat easily (probably other foods too, but right now they are only used on meat). I'm shocked as I was prepared to hate the cheap plastic garbage knives, but for now, I'm pleasantly surprised, and I feel I made a good choice. How long will they last? I don't know, but we both like them for the now and will wait and see regarding longevity and sharpness. ... show more

Watch ya fingers! These are excellent knives that are very sharp. Sleek-looking. Sturdy handles. I appreciate the little covers that came with them to protect your fingers, although they are easily lost.

Our old set of steak knives were literally falling apart. Pieces of the handle would come off in your hand or just vanish when washed. It was time for new knives. Past time. Seriously past time. These knives are excellent and versatile workhorses. They're comfortable to hold, which our old knives definitely were not. They're even comfortable to hold while wet and covered in soap, I'm not worried I'll slip and cut myself. The handle is textured to make it easy to grip and they're nice and round, not flat and narrow. They look nice, they don't stain, they don't chip, and they're easy to clean. I've used them to cut raw, cooked, and pickled vegetables. I've sliced tomatoes without mutilating them. I've topped strawberries effortlessly. I cut a bagel in half when the bread knife was actively being washed and I just couldn't wait. Then I used the same steak knife to spread cream cheese on my bagel. They aren't great at spreads, I'll admit. Stick with a butter knife for those. Strangely, I have yet to use one of these wonderful knives on meat. I'm sure that day will come soon enough. Either way, for the price? I could buy six sets of these knives for what our old ones cost. So, I'm delighted they work so well, feel so comfortable, and look so nice. ... show more

I have needed to replace my old steak knives and when I saw these on sale I thought I would give them a try. The first thing that I liked is that unlike my old woodened handled ones, where the handle and the blade are joined is sealed so there is no chance of not being able to clean the knife well. The are extremely sharp, and the handles are ergonomic. I have used them not just for cutting meat, but also for prepping raw veggies, slicing block cheese, even slicing tomatoes, all with ease. The blade is sturdy, so no flimsy wobbling when you use them. Definitely recommend these if you are looking for a sharp, sturdy, comfortable knife. ... show more
