This affordable patio heater seems to have dialed in the right halogen heating element to put out a lot of heat compared to light. We had one in the past like this, but it broke after 3 years. Then we got another one that was BRIGHT WHITE but put out very little heat. Worthless. We garage sold it. Now this one is like our first one, but much less expensive. Looks are not bad. Warms you when. It’s close but not as well as a propane unit. Too soon to tell if it’s less expensive to operate until I get the electric bill. Got to admit that it now costs a lot to refill my propane tanks

Heat is okay, but if you are thinking to use this on a table top, it glows bright, really bright, orange. It’s so bright if it sits above you centered on the table that you don’t really want to look at the people on the other side.

Don't expect this heater to give off enough heat to warm an entire patio area, but it is great for people sitting around a patio table. Gives off a really nice orange glowing light as well and is really a good looking patio heater. Very easy to assemble with a wide flat heavy base. Pull chain is a light string which I am hoping remains intact. Chain would have been nice, but perhaps would have gotten too hot below heating element. Really nice not having to deal with propane as well. Very happy with my purchase. ... show more

The good news is it will push back a chill in the air or morning or evening. Also no messing with gas tanks. But like most electric heaters this topped out at 1500 W, and you need to be essentially right next to it for it to be effective. But it does help.
