Perfect for my porch/sanctuary. I use a fire table every day in the winter which keeps my space cozy. The Star Patio electric heater is nice to use before it gets cold as in 30 degrees for me. It’s perfect to keep your legs and feet warm. I’d say you can feel heat in a 2’ radius. Don’t expect this unit to heat a room of any size. This is a good radiant heater, that could be used indoor in a large room, or outdoors. Simple controls (just an on and off switch) and close to it, it is HOT! It is radiant though, with no mechanisms by itself to move that hot air. beyond a couple of feet, and you lose all heating ability from it. Definitely recommend partnering with a fan to increase the area that heats. even after a couple of hours of usage, the base remains cool to the touch and if the handle on top is not locked in the full upright position (screws are included to do just that) you can use the handle to pick it up, but if it's in the locked position, it is too hot to handle after just a few minutes, so be careful! ... show more

This is a patio heater. It is the perfect size to sit beneath the table and radiate heat, keeping people warm as they sit outside on cool nights. It is perfect for the job it was designed to do. Perfect. Enter my husband, who upon seeing this, decided neither the two space heaters he has in the basement was doing the job right, and he had to have it. Since it’s full on winter and our patio table is stored away, I didn’t object, especially since this product needed to be tested. But I did remind him this unit is intended to be used as stated on the box. He mumbled something about being able to read and carried his new heater down the stairs, scurrying like Golem with his Precious. About half an hour later, he came upstairs and said, “This is only radiant heat,” and I reminded him of its intended function. Again. A few minutes after that, he emerged again from the basement. “You know what the heater needs? A little reflective strip to direct the heat outward!” “What would the person sitting on that side do?” “What do you mean?” came my husband’s puzzled reply. “The person sitting behind the reflective panel isn’t going to get any heat. The people on the sides aren’t going to be getting all that much either. So one person would roast, and the rest will freeze.” “What are you talking about?” asked my genuinely perplexed husband. “I’m telling you how to improve on the design!” “It doesn’t need improvement. It works exactly as it is designed to. It is supposed to…” “What? It’s supposed to just send it’s heat out in all directions? That doesn’t help me.” “Well,” I maybe not quite so calmly replied, “yeah. Finally a space heater that is aesthetic and quiet. I love this thing! I use it indoors and outdoors. Initially I thought I would only be using it in my basement, garage, and on the patio. But it turns out that I love using it on the first floor of my house to keep me cozy without having to overwork my poor old dying furnace. I live up north and this heater is plenty strong to heat up one (roughly) 1,200 square foot floor in December. Then as a bonus, the warm air from the first floor rises to the second floor. My whole house is just a lot cozier with this thing. It’s fantastic. I also want to note that it is simple to turn on, just one on/off switch on the base. It is easy to carry with the sturdy handle that locks in place with two extra screws provided. And it is safe to the touch with the flocked grate around the heat source. I don’t have to worry about my pets walking passed it. It is also very stable on the ground. I’m so happy with this lantern heater and am so glad that I didn’t settle for the traditional kind.
