    • first one didn't work but they sent new one quickly and worked really well
I got rid of an old laptop with an m.2 2800 drive inside. I took the drive and wanted an SSd enclosure. This one look great and the amazon page was really helpful with the picture of which card will work and which will not. Not all m.2 drives are the same. There is NVME or SATA and this drives works with most formats. The first unit arrived and after installing the drive did not work. Windows 10 recognized it easily but after about 20 seconds it kept disappearing and reappearing every few seconds as if I was unplugging and plugging it back in (even through I wasn't). I notified Amazon to get a replacement and one was immediately shipped out. The second product worked perfectly. Install is easy enough and Windows automatically recognized the drive immediately. No issues this time. Drive was stable! The device is made of aluminum which gives a nice feel. The install is ok. It takes some maneuvering to get the little holder in place on the m.2 drive with the screw. Not impossible but definitely awkward. You also need to push the drive pretty hard into the enclosure. I think this is so the drive contacts the aluminum body to help with heat. In terms of speed, this will vary greatly depending on what m.2 SSD you have and the PC you install it into. I was only getting about 50mbs when installed into the USB port however this went all the way up to 500mbs when I plugged into the USB C port of my PC. I transfer over a 6gb file in about 20 seconds. - The "lose" insert shipped with it - to be used as nuts - is not the best. - The springing mechanism is great to hold the SSD against the aluminum frame for heat dissipation. I used this enclosure to copy files from one M.2 to another. Simple to slot the memory in, and just slide it up and it’s enclosed. The build quality is super nice, but scratches easily, I would say anything metal would scratch it. It’s not super heavy, but I don’t mind something being heavy. My plan to upgrade from a Mac Mini to a Mac Studio included using a Time Machine backup with the Migration Assistant. I chose this device for its price point and rated speeds. Before the Studio arrived I attached this device to the Mac Mini and used Time Machine for backups. Earlier migrations took several hours. I hoped the SATA in this enclosure would speed up the migration process. Did it ever? It copied over a million files in 20 minutes and the entire migration was finished in less than 30 minutes. Simple color scheme, matches my laptop, installation was super simple, I didn’t even use the instructions. Lots of extra screws and nuts came with it which was nice, and a nice quality piece of thermal tape. Overall completely satisfied. Seems to be aluminum and will protect the drive inside for sure. I know the drive does the work but it’s super fast, and their connectors matter in transfer speeds. ONE con… its status LED is huge and super bright. Lights up a dark room for sure. I personally hate LED lights on chargers and items unless they’re absolutely essential, and a status light is, but Jesus! Who are you trying to advise you’re transferring files a mile away?
