    • Great for when you're recovering from surgery
I purchased this set of dumbells because I was having spinal fusion surgery last month. My surgeon kept harping at my about not picking anything up that weighs more than a gallon of milk. I bought a set of Bowflex interchangeable dumbells 10 years ago, but they are the 90lb. variety. I purchsed the Sportsroyals because they only went to 25lbs. I have set them at 5lbs. apiece and doing skull chrushers and reverse hammer curls to keep my triceps in peak condition. It has only been 6 days since my surgery, but I feel strong and I want to stay in shape as it took me 10 years to get in great shape for a 63 year old. Buy them, use them, they are comfortable to use, easy to adjust, and don't take up a tremendous amount of room like a 15-180lb full set of dumbells would. I'd advocate for these dumbells whether you are a beginner, novice, or lifetime gymrat like me. ... show more

    • Only one nitpick: Hard to see the setting

The weights delivered were exactly as advertised. It's very easy to switch the weight setting. It can be just a tiny bit awkward to make replace the handle back over the rack where there might be plates left from a previous setting, but it's pretty minor, considering. The one problem I found is that the digits embossed in the inner ring (the numbers that tell you what the current weight setting is) were black on black. Even though the numbers are large enough to see, you will need very bright lighting in your room if you want to see the current setting clearly and easily. Maybe it looks extra cool in the photo, but it is extra irritating when I'm trying to change weights quickly in a room with normal light. I fixed the problem for myself (as shown in the photo) by using one of those pens with liquid chalk like they use for blackboard/chalkboard signs, glass, etc., and using it to paint the surface around the numbers, which left the embossed number black. It will probably need to be redone because it will probably wear off after a while. Next time I might use a labeler instead. ... show more

This is a really nice weight set-pair in my opinion, at a very good value. Like that the plates are all plastic coated. The grips are a little large but very comfortable easy to hold perfect for me. Grips being a little large could be an issue for someone with smaller hands. Put15lbs on the scale, but not being sure how accurate the scale is and registered 14.4lbs not a problem for me considering that's very little fluctuation and acceptable for me, someone else may prefer exact amounts. With that said still (Highly Recommended) .....!!! ... show more
