Description

Read more Suitable Material Plywood, laminates, MDF, and other Composite Materials Read more The Compression Router Bit The compression cutters are designed with both up and down-cut flutes. The top portion of the length of cut, closest to the shank, has a left hand spiral, forcing chips down. The bottom portion of the length of cut, closest to the end, has a right hand spiral, forcing chips up. When cutting, the opposing flute directions generate counteracting up-cut and down-cut forces. The opposing cutting forces stabilize the material removal, which compresses the composite layers, combatting delamination on the top and bottom of a workpiece. Since compression cutters do not pull up or press down on a workpiece, they leave an excellent finish on layered composites and lightweight materials like plywood. It is important to note, however, that compression cutters are suited specifically to profiling, as the benefits of the up and down-cut geometry are not utilized in slotting or plunging operations. • Great bit
This was my first compression bit, I wanted to try one and decided to give it a go. I love this little bit, I use this for clearing out most of my waste material now over other 1/4" end mills. It leaves a clean finish and has stayed sharp for a few weeks now. I cut a lot of hard maple and pine.

  • Great bit! Great price! No issues at all!
Amazing product so far! I use this bit on my Shapeoko XL and needed a new 1/4” bit for cutting out profiles. As you can see in the picture, this bit was used on the left plaque and my older Amaña 1/4” downcut bit was used on the right plaque. As you can see the difference, if you zoom in, this new bit is far superior to the amana. But the amana bit is older and most likely slightly dull as well as being a downcut only bit. But I’d have to say that I’m very pleased with this “Spetool” compression bit. Perfect bit! ... show more

  • Literally blew apart.
Well after one cut, maybe two depending on how you want to count it. The bit actually broke apart. I was able to fine these two larger pieces. But more.are gone probably embedded in the surrounding walls. I was using a Makita router at speed 2. Not all that quick. I mean it's pain cause I'm out 20 bucks. But also that could of caused an injury or busted something more expensive. ... show more

  • Worst compression bit I've ever bought.
Worst compression bit I've ever bought. Not recommend for CNC use. Lots of tear-out on the top edge. Terrible cut quality. the up cut portion of the bit is way too high on the bit. First cut would have to be 3/8".

  • Great Bit
This bit was better than I anticipated. I'm now using it as my go to bit.
