  • Good Quality / Great Sound / Easy Install
Quality seems quite good given the price. Most kits under $200 utilize plastic tubing instead of aluminum. Great sound and noticeable increased power, particularly low end torque. Easy install. The kit was missing one of the couplers, so my Jeep sat for 3 days awaiting the part to arrive. Thankfully, I had a spare vehicle to use to get back and forth to work. Another check in the negative category was the tubing that extends from the filter to the throttle body tube was gouged and scored on the top. I chose to cover that area with a decal as opposed to remove the whole thing and send it back. Wasn't much impressed with Spectre's customer service, who basically offered to get the missing coupler out to me but wouldn't really address the damage on the tubing. All in all, I'm pleased though... ... show more

  • Fitment issues with 2014 Durango
Had the same brand intake on my 08 CTS so I knew there was no risk, however I did have slight difficulty mounting it in my '14 Durango. Seems certain components in the engine bay were moved around so I had to make certain modifications to secure the intake. It's not properly in there but I did make it work so theres that. Definitely has a more significant growl at low RPMs when accelerating, and as for power I feel the acceleration has gotten a bit better, again especially in the low RPMs. Wish the fitment was better and not so "rigged" and "adjusted" but I got it working for now and so far I love it. ... show more

  • Great bang for the buck
I wasn’t expecting an increase and power and mileage, but for the price you can beat it. Just take your time installing it and it will fit no problem. 2011 wk2

  • Not impressed
Could not complete installation in a 3.6 Durango due to missing parts. One star based on overall build quality observed during the process. Although I can offer no feedback of performance, I can still directly compare this to the "k&n" kit because I actually ordered one of those first and sent it back because it also failed to meet my expectations of quality or value. Things to know about each kit: Both baffle plates attach to the vehicle using two of the three factory airbox bushings but the Spectre kit includes an additional brace that considerably improves structural integrity and keeps the edge of the baffle tighter to the hood. However, the Spectre filter itself is only kept in place via rubber couplers and clamps while k&n bolts their filter mounting flange directly to the baffle. Neither one is ideal but I would expect the k&n to be more durable even though it isn't mounted to the vehicle as well. While both kits have aluminum tubes, they each have issues. The Spectre part which is coupled to the throttle body only gives you a cheap rubber grommet to install the OEM mass air flow sensor with. Although I was - very carefully- able to get it together and it was fairly tight, I have zero confidence that it would stay in place for the life of the vehicle. I would have returned this kit because of that even if it wasn't missing parts. The k&n tube has a machined socket that holds the sensor as good or better than stock but since it is so solid and you do need to press rather firmly on it you still need to be very careful not to damage the sensor. Nevertheless, this is much better than the Spectre. On the other hand, the reverse is true of the second tubes and the method of connection to the OEM crankcase vent. The k&n has a tapped slug which requires a flimsy plastic adapter that is prone to breakage. I didn't have any trouble installing it, but I highly doubt it would be very durable. This part on the Spectre is a welded tube which will cause no problem of breaking due to overzealous clamping and should last indefinitely. Part of the reason that I returned both of them though is because the factory tube has to be cut in the first place. Both kits have an adapter plate which appear nearly identical for mounting the aluminum to a factory bracket on the front of the engine. The only difference is that the Spectre part has slotted holes, which makes threading the (upside down) installation bolts slightly easier but either one works if you take your time. I cannot definitively say how well the Spectre kit fits under the factory engine cover because the tube couplers were missing, but due to the way it is designed and where the joint is located it ought to be better than the k&n which directly interferes with OEM wiring harnesses. Although they both have their pros and cons I don't feel that either of them are really worth the money, but I do think that the relative quality of each one is reflected by their prices. Even though I wouldn't put either in my vehicle, I would be more confident in the durability of the more expensive version. That said, since they are so similar, the less expensive Spectre kit is definitely a better value. ... show more

  • Arrived with major scratches/gouges in the aluminum pipes
Out of the box, both aluminum tubes had major scratches / gouges, but no holes. Since I had already disassembled, I continued with installation. Fitment was "OK". It took two people at least 20 minutes to muscle the pipe to the mounting bracket. (I'm not a novice... I've worked in the industry, and installed over 50 air intakes.) But, all was fine once we were able to get the bolts into the tubing. When I tried to report the damage, Amazon wanted me to return everything. But, I had already installed it, and did not want to remove it. Is there a way to exchange my piping? I'd like to be able to pop the hood and show it off, but there are scratches across the top of the visible pipe. ... show more

  • Missing a piece
Was missing the coupling that goes between the two pieces of pipe. Luckily had one around the garage already. Works great, sounds great, no issues other than the coupling.
