Our house was in dire need of an updated entry door light (Picture 1), so I went looking on Amazon and came across this fixture. What attracted my attention, besides the style, were two extras features I hadn't been looking for at the start. These were: A pair of IP44 rated 120 volt AC outlets, perfect because I only have one outlet on the front of the house, and an integrated dusk-to-dawn sensor. Picture 2 is of the product box. No flash or glitter, but I like the plain approach as it conserves some resources. The fixture was well protected with a pair of medium-density foam inserts and the ubiquitous plastic bag around the fixture, which immediately went into the cat box bag holder:>) Picture 3 shows what you get; the fixture, a bag of mounting hardware, and reasonably helpful installation instructions. Flip the fixture over, and you see the mounting bracket (Picture 4) attached with two small screws. You must remove the plate and mount it where you want your fixture to "live." Here's a helpful tip (I hope), put the two small screws in the hardware bag for safekeeping. The wiring and electrical components inside the fixture look first-rate (Picture 5). Everything is neatly installed and wired, leaving you the task of connecting the white and black power wires to your outlet. The two connecting wires come with some insulation stripped, but I removed another 1/4" to achieve a better connection with the wire nuts provided. Installation was uncomplicated, and, as mentioned, the instructions are reasonably helpful. To be honest, I didn't do more than glance over them since I've installed lots of light fixtures. I recommend another tool for your installation, a small bubble level. When installing the mounting bracket, leave the mounting screws a bit loose and with the bubble level as a guide, level the bracket, then carefully tighten the screws. Now you have a properly lined-up fixture (folks who like their things a bit off-kilter can skip this step). The only tricky part was reattaching the fixture to the mounting bracket with the pair of small screws. Lining up the holes in the fixture housing and those in the bracket took some jostling and jiggling, but they did go back in place. However, in my installation, they were a bit off-center from their original position, and a tiny crescent of the finish was gone. So, I covered it with clear fingernail polish. You could use silicone caulk, but it was right at freezing when I installed my fixture. When finished, it looks great (Picture 6) and matches our sidewalk post light well. I got this light to replace our old light fixture on the back porch. I have not installed this yet. It appears to be made well. It is sturdy and appears to be made with quality materials. There is an outlet on both sides of the base which is why I got this light.

It came well packaged and was very easy to set up. One black wire, one white wire and a ground. I did have to use some creative engineering to make sure the bracket fit the existing cutout, but that was not a fault of the light. With energy costs rising, having a light to turn itself on and off based on ambient light is extremely welcomed. ... show more
