If you are in a small family, and like to pre-portion your homemade goods prior to storing them, you *need* Souper Cubes. They come in a variety of sizes, these are 2-cup portions. I can make soup, then freeze in these containers. I pull them out of the silicone to store them in a gallon bag that stores about 6 cups FLAT! I can then make noodles, and add 2 cups broth to it, no problem. I freeze soup, and a variety of other mixtures in these containers. I just realized that I can store medicine I make in these as well! Left over onions, or other dense-celled vegetables could be put in here with a little bit of water to freeze for future use instead of going bad on your counter. These are extremely durable, safe for food consumption, they allow a liquid to expand while not breaking, they have a flat hard top that snaps onto place and they stack in your freezer! I love everything about this product! If you make a lot of soup, stews, chili, spaghetti sauce, these are perfect. I got the two set 2 cup size for 34.99. When you have leftovers, you can save them in the souper cubes, freeze and either pop them out when frozen and store in a freezer bag, or keep in the souper cubes til ready to use. And each tray comes with a lid so food doesn't get freezer burn or absorb any odors. They are dishwasher safe. For years, I have frozen portions of soups and sauces in Ziploc bags slid into cereal boxes to make them flat and easy to stack. Now that my kids are grown and gone, I need smaller portions for my husband and me and these are just perfect. There is a (hidden) metal rim and plastic lid that keeps it rigid for filling and transporting when full, but the silicone makes removing the frozen items incredibly simple because you can just turn it inside out to pop out the frozen block. I saw these on Shark Tank and had to have them. They are really great. I buy a bone in ham and have ham for dinner and then bone and leftovers to make split pea soup which I love in the winter months. I always make more than I can possibly finish and these stack so easily it is perfect. I also make meals and take to my 90 year old father and I can make things ahead of time and the 2 cup size is perfect for his meal. I made a pot of applesauce and it works great for that too. I'm using these along with a crock-pot to make freeze ahead meals for my two person household. My husband and I are small, and each "block" is a nice size for the two of us-- we also add a salad or vegetable depending on the meal. These work nicely. There are slightly less expensive alternatives, but I like the metal reinforcement on the sturdy reinforcement on the other edge which makes it easier to carry to the freezer when it is full of liquid soup, stews or sauce. We have the complete set. 2c, 1c, and smaller ones. We use the 2c and 1c ones all the time to freeze leftover soups, etc in easily-useable portions. Excellent quality silicone - hasn't picked up stains or odors. This actually works! I divided a casserole into the two sides and stuck it into the freezer. After a week, I simply popped one portion out and returned the container to the freezer. The food tasted fresh and the process was easy.
