  • Safe and sound.
Size: 4U Side / 11U Slant Top, 20.2" Depth
This review is for Sound Town 4U PA DJ Pro Audio Rack/Road ATA Case with 13U Slant Mixer Top, 23.5’’ Rackable Depth, 4 Space Size - Pro Tour Grade (STMR-4U) This is a very sturdy case. All the parts fix snuggly together. Considering how strong it is, relatively speaking it is light, but I must say it is not a feather weight. And once I added the equipment to it, it takes two people to move it. The crown amp that I put in it weighs a lot, but I don't want to give the impression that the case is extremely light. In my opinion, it weighs what it should to be the quality that it is. When the case is moved after fully loaded with mixer, amp, and two small speakers,(amazing we could get all that in the case) there is no twisting or turning of the parts of the case. Everything is solidly secure in the case. I do nor thing that this case is water proof, nor do I think it claims to be. However, I can say that on the day I delivered this case to my client containing their entire sound system, we received a very heavy rain as we carried the case from my truck to the house. The case was always kept in it normal orientation, so it was not turned on its side in the rain. However, the case was completely wet on the outside. We dried it off with paper towels, brought the case inside, opened it, hung the speakers, powered it up and played music immediately because the was no moisture inside. That requires some pretty precise joins between the base and covers. I will be using this type of case for more if my equipment. I think the price is right for the quality that you get. A suggestion I would make is to have two handles on each of the long sides. With the case empty, it is fairly balance while holding each of the handles in the center. However, with that crown amp more on one side that the other, that one side is heavier and thus the handles in the center make picking it up a little more difficult because the case wants to dip to the heavier side. 4 handles would make it more stable. I am still giving this case 5 stars because it really met all of my needs for this sound system. ... show more

  • Take a chance
I took a chance on this item, being much cheaper than other more recognized name brand shock mount ata cases. I read a bunch of comments around saying the sound town reviews are mostly ai generated. But this 2ru unit I got is great so far for me and I'm not an ai. We shall see how it holds up after a few trips out loaded up. But I'm impressed upon receipt with the quality and the value after opening the box. The name is kind of corny but the products seem to be well made. Take a chance. ... show more

  • Plenty of space, and a fine design.
Size: 2U Side / 11U Top, 20" Depth
Overall, this case is larger than I had initially intended, but worked out well. The 4 U rack at the front is exceptionally helpful. One complaint is that there are no rails in the back of the box to mount other shelves, or power handling. The laptop "stand" has actually come in handy several times while using it, so I didn't remove it like I had initially thought. It stays in place well and is easy to glide. We'll see how a season of sand and air do, but overall the build quality is surprisingly nice! ... show more

  • Completely PRO ATA RACK CASE
Size: 2U, Shock Mount, 21"Depth
I bought the 2-space shock mount for a few expensive multi effects units. The case arrived fast and boy was I surprised. A very heavy duty shipping box - opened to reveal a very well protected inside. Moulded corners, styro sheets top and bottom, and the case was tightly wrapped in a plastic bag for moisture and dust. The actual product is SECOND TO NONE. I’ve owned them all and the build quality here is quite impressive and appreciated. Even my old expensive Anvil cases had rough lumber inside. Not on this guy. Smooth and painted. Riveting is aircraft quality and the exterior laminate has a light texture - resembling a Fender amp. I could go on - but I think you get the picture. For the price they must be operating on a very slim profit margin. Thank you Sound Town - from Dennis in Brentwood, California... ... show more

  • Well Made Rack Case
Size: 4U Side / 11U Slant Top, 20.2" Depth
I'm very happy with this case. It's well made, well thought out, plenty rugged, and it fits in my pick up bed with a tonneau cover. So far I've mounted a Mackie Mixer, a Behringer Power Amp, and a Furman Power Conditioner. ...with another power amp coming. It's a little heavy in this configuration but I made a custom fit dolly to move it around. So far it's served me a gigs and speeds up my setup time. ... show more

  • Good case for the money but some issues...
Size: 4U Side / 11U Slant Top, 20.2" Depth
I'm using this case for my unpowered mixer and outboard gear. If you have a large mixer you may not be able to use all 4 Units for rack mounting unless you raise the mixer slightly. I replaced the 4U rails so everything would fit. Watch out for sharp edges as the framework cuts are not smooth. It is heavy and may require a hand truck and help to lift it. I am going to buy some case foam for the inside of the top cover to stop the board from rising during transport. Not a bad buy if you are willing to make it work for your needs. The bottom line is it will protect your gear! ... show more

  • Heavier than I expected! Top holes off a bit.
I did find that the mounting holes for along the top rails are a bit off in the spacing which made it where I could not use all of the RU's due to improper hole spacing, but I was able to make it work none the less. I got this case for my Berringer 6ch mixer, I was able to cut the included carpeted panel down a bit on the top section to make it fit with my mixer and still be able to use it as a "work" platform which is cool. On the front rack rails, I was also able to install my Berringer 8 channel mix mixer/splitter and a Middle Atlantic PD-920R power unit and I have room for the 2RU drawer (I have that ordered) under that. My equipment does not weigh much by itself but in the case and all together with the case, it is safer to use a 2 man lift and wheels to transport but that is just a testament that the case is not flimsy or cheap. Over all, I am happy with this purchase. ... show more
