It came out of a small box and had some fluff to it already. But I put it in the dryer on no heat air only for about 20-30 minutes and it really fluffed up. I have a thicker mattress and I was worried about it not fitting correctly but it fit perfectly and those actually extra room and it's not come off with all the wiggling that I do at night. It has made a hard bed turn very comfortable and soft and has made sleeping very pleasurable once more. I even had a comment at work that I looked very well rested since I got this a few days ago. I can't believe what a difference just a few days has made already. I was hesitant to get a topper with the mattress pad with it but I've had a mattress topper before and I remember that it slid around a lot so I like this option and it doesn't slide it stays right on the bed. This mattress topper does provide a nice cushiony layer to sleep on. It does not fit as smoothly as pictured. Some of the individual squares are lumpy and I had to manipulate them to get them closer to even. Also the pocket is slippery and allows for a very deep mattress.
