  • Excellent book for students
Though I've said "excellent book for students", the quality of the pieces is nice for players of any experience who enjoy sonatinas that aren't overly complex. I used this as a kid and always had several favorites I'd play every now and then as an adult. There is another version of this book that's identical, except that it has about two thirds of the pieces as best as I can remember. I lost the smaller version I had as a kid a dozen years ago and got this as a replacement. The difference in price between the two versions available at that time was so small it would've been stupid not to get this version. I'm glad I did as the extra selections in this version are nice pieces, though I haven't had much chance to really learn them yet, but the choices that were made to include these pieces was a good call. I have no problem with the fingerings in this book, as with Schirmer books in general. The other good feature is that the selections aren't heavily weighted towards just a few composers; it's a reasonably good spread. Probably no one will like every single piece, but most people will like most of the pieces. ... show more

  • Beautiful music
Very challenging music. Im sure I will never play any of it perfectly, but it's fun to try.

  • I Love This Collection
A great collection of fun-to-play sonatinas and other pieces. This book is always open at my piano. I enjoy sitting down and playing these favorite pieces when I have a spare moment. While cooking dinner, for instance, I will run through a Clementi as I wait for something to simmer or boil, and as I wait for my husband to get home each afternoon, I pass the time with any one of these works. Truly a classic, and definitely a musical treasure. ... show more

  • Great selection of early intermediate sonatinas
My students love this collection of early intermediate classical period sonatinas. The range of difficulty is such that the book should last a couple of years, depending on the interest of the student. Sonatinas are key to their success with upper level literature.
